A 150 cm woman attacking 2 women on a train... Now I've seen everything!

if it was a blunt instrument, this surely isn’t headline news.

Why’s that? Considering a blunt instrument could be a hammer, baseball bat, glass bottle etc, that seems worthy of headline news to me.

They were probably sitting in the elderly reserved seats on the train and didn't get up for her so she hit them with her umbrella.

-5 ( +8 / -13 )

The victims reported to the police after getting off the train at different stations.

So no one around wanted to step in and ask if they were alright?

12 ( +15 / -3 )

What if someone get attacked in the Sakihan tunnel, where you are about 22 miles from the exit underwater, while in the train

-8 ( +1 / -9 )

The fact that the 60's woman could fled the scene without anyone stopping is just ridiculous. Unless people willing to stand up for others and come to others aid, these kind of daring attacks will just keep happening.

The fact that the 60's woman could fled the scene without anyone stopping is just ridiculous.

Most people probably had their heads down looking at their phones

The official police report ‘suspects’ it was a “hammer”, why doesn’t the headline? - It’s easier for someone to come forward and say if they ‘saw a woman, 60’s, walking in & out of the station with a hammer’.

- “The perpetrator [woman] fled following the attack, 2 p.m., Yokohama Municipal Subway Blue Line bound for Shonandai Station, remains on the run, adding they suspect the weapon used was a hammer.” -

The public in Japan does not want to get involved.

@Seesaw

The public in Japan does not want to get involved.

UNLESS:

*Eizaburo Fukushima, claims to have seen the man shoplifting at a supermarket at around 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, Sankei Shimbun reported. The incident unfolded in the supermarket parking lot after *Fukushima followed the man out of the store and accused him of stealing

"they suspect the weapon used was a hammer."

must have been "hammer time"

A woman in 60ies, still at large after an assault on a public transport...This is a joke.

Goes to show how useless surveillance is at stations and on trains. And people need to try helping each other, be more observing. We are not robots, ffs

The fact that the 60's woman could fled the scene without anyone stopping is just ridiculous.

Everyone becomes conveniently blind when they're on the train here. Heads tucked to their chests staring blankly at their phones like zoned out zombies. I hardly ever see anyone offer their seats to those who need it. It's a tad sad.

@Lewis Clarke

"I wonder what would happen to the brave soul who ends up fighting back and kills one of these mentally I’ll individuals."

in most cases themz nabsters would throw the book at em, In j-land you are expected to get beat down, and somehow be able to notify "themz" any retaliation is not allowed only run for your life:

I take that line a lot and it's usually quiet but you still need to be vigilant. There are many antisocial and unhinged people walking around out there and the smallest thing could set them off. I don't care how safe they say this country is, or any country for that matter, I always have my eyes peeled and now they'll be extra peeled.

"There are many antisocial and unhinged people walking around out there and the smallest thing could set them off"

Like that nutcrack who short circuited in the restaurant by putting his leg across on the next stool, and later claimed it was his "last supper" as they hauled him off to j-jail.

Did the authorities find the hammer?

... by a man dressed as Batman villain the Joker ...

This guy was dressed as Kila from Jojo's bizzare adventure. Get your facts right News !

The victims could have protected themselves if they had a jar of hot-sauce or a bright flashlight with them in a backpack.

They should install security cameras in the trains.

6 ( +7 / -1 )

Sorry @Avenger 12:07am but that’s not good until after someone is grievously injured or dead.

Once again, seems more reliance on actual police presence on the trains and less on surveillance footage ‘after the fact’ would truly demonstrate the government’s sincerity on the importance of proactive measures to prevent & curtail these crimes. Remember this:

When ‘exactly’ is this going to start ?

3 ( +5 / -2 )

So nobody tried to take the hammer from the borderline elderly woman? Sheesh.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

You mean to tell me that carrying a knife is prohibited but carrying blunt instruments is perfectly fine.

-1 ( +2 / -3 )

Lewis Clarke,

I wonder what would happen to the brave soul who ends up fighting back and kills one of these mentally I’ll individuals.

as long as they satisfy the legal requirements for self-defence -reasonable force, imminent threat to life and so on - they should be ok. disclosure; am not a lawyer. obviously.

Slight head injuries means it wasn't a hammer I have seen somebody hit with one of them and it caused major injuries... most likely the hard end of a small push in umbrella.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

I’m not surprised she got away clean. We all know how tricky these little old ladies can be.

1 ( +2 / -1 )

I've seen private security guards on private trains recently.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Were they the only 2 passengers on the train, or did everyone else just 'mind their own business' and 'not want to get involved'?

Presuming there was at least one other passenger on the train, it's pathetic that nobody did anything, and allowed the women to just walk off.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Hoping no copycat after this news?

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

"it's pathetic that nobody did anything, and allowed the women to just walk off."

but if a base peep ... did it ... they would be up in arms, all over the archipelago calling for a mass protest again....

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

There's a few here I wish she'd hit.

-3 ( +0 / -3 )

The victims could have protected themselves if they had a jar of hot-sauce or a bright flashlight with them in a backpack.

Actually, I was joking. A jar of hot-sauce or some stupid flashlight isn't going to help. LOL

I was on that same line a few days ago. It’s hard to believe.

These are some stressful holidays

"...the police said, adding they suspect the weapon used was a hammer."

There are all kinds of hammers, including quite light ones for fine work. If the police think it was a hammer, then more than likely it was. Anyway the two unrelated victims later got off at different stations, and presumably the perp got off at an even earlier stop. Were they all together for some time until the train stopped...? Not much detail in this article.

I hope they catch her before she does this again.
