Police in Nagoya are looking for a woman who attacked an 8-year-old girl with scissors, as she sat in a car in the parking lot of a supermarket.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:40 p.m. on Saturday. Sankei Shimbun reported that the girl's mother had left her daughter in the unlocked car while she went into he supermarket. The girl told police that a woman, whom she did not know, got into the car and stabbed her in the leg with the scissors.

The woman then got out of the car and fled on a bicycle. The girl's mother called 110.

The girl suffered a 5-mm gash below her knee, police said.

The assailant is described as being in her 30s and about 160 cms tall.

Sounds strange... Why only a "5-mm gash" and why is it below the knee? I remember a case some years ago when a child claimed to have been attacked and police eventually found out that it was a self-inflicted wound and that the child wanted the parents to pay more attention to him/her. Just a thought...

Another mental case...

Let me guess (after they catch her)..."I was stressed out, and wanted to see what it was like to stab somebody." Why do wackos choose women and children as victims? Because it's a low-risk (to themselves) chance of success. Cowards

Jesus this is messed up

"The girl told..."?

Has this all been confirmed with camera footage? Would be easy enough.

Just another reason why you never leave your kids in the car.

Lucky it was only a 5mm cut, and not a kidnapping. Thought there was a law in Japan about leaving kids unattended in cars.

Japan doesn't have a law about kids in cars. If they do then no one follows it. Besides, if 6 year olds can travel on trains to and from school every day by themselves, an 8 year old can sit in the back seat of a car for 5 minutes while their mum is in the store.

Was she pissed off at the car's idling?

@therougou prints to prove there was a lady or if the girl did it to herself! And YES it is careless to leave you kids in the car. Just cause your mom did it 30 years ago, it doesn't mean it was any less careless. Your parents took a risk and that is the issue. Bad things can happen anytime and the smart thing to do is avoid helping them to happen.

Seems Frank may have a point there, but there was no mention of the scissors at the scene cause I am sure they would have been processed for prints. It is possible the girl could have been a target of revenge against the mother. Guess the truth will come out soon enough. Parents must be careful with what shows the kids watch...kids are like sponges and may absorb the wrong ideas.

Blame the crazy woman not the parents for leaving the kid (8 years old) in the car. In the car was probably a safer place if the door was locked, so if anything "a reason to lock your doors", then again that doesn't work since none of that prevents a crazy woman with scissors from going out in the first place to stab people, if not the girl in the car, some other person on the street/train/station. Hope the police catch this lady.

I can't get my head around that she was stubbed below the knee, its an odd angle, but I could understand if she was stabbed in her thigh, Iam sure the girl was sitting on the seat this would be the largest area to stub, unless the little girl jumped up and started to fight or struggle with this loon, then possible then it might explain the stubbing below the knee. I hope she gets some sort of concealing for this attack.

When I was a kid, I used to sit in the car while my mom was shopping, but all that changed. Because of kidnappings, hot car deaths, etc., small kids weren't left in cars anymore!

Good thing, too!

If I had said this in my first post, I'd have received a ton of thumbs downs. I agree with the posters who suggest taking another look at the girl, especially since below the knee is a weird place to get stabbed, and school is just starting

My mom left me in the car all the time when she was shopping. I bet most of the posters over 30 years old could say the same. It's not reckless at all. The odds of something happening are so minuscule as to be nearly non-existent.

So just to confirm you have left your own children in hot cars by themselves while you shopped?

Wouldn't it be more useful to also say where this supermarket is apart from Nagoya? Nagoya is pretty big.

Yeah, I'm with Frank on this -- the whole thing sounds dubious.

@krisallenation

Okazaki, me thinks.

A girl walking to school randomly attcked by a crazy: almost impossible to prevent.

An 8 year old girl sitting unsupervised in an unlocked car attacked (if it really happened): most certainly perventable.

Why would someone leave their kid unattened in an unlocked car for any amount of time?

Reckless parenting (if it actauly happened)

Maybe the mom did it.

Glad that little girl wasn't my child running, because I would've pried those scissors from that Woman's hands and chased her with them! Unbelievable some people!

Where in Nagoya did this occur?

, but there was no mention of the scissors at the scene cause I am sure they would have been processed for prints.

Well at least she would have to leave prints on the car door when she opened it up.

Just another reason why you never leave your kids in the car.

The girl was old enough to be left in the car. You should always lock the doors to be safe, though.

I agree with you based on the absolutely nothing whatsoever to suggest that may be the case.
