Police said Tuesday they are looking for a woman who slashed a high school girl with a knife in the grounds of an apartment block in Inzai, Chiba Prefecture.

According to police, the attack took place at around 8 p.m. on Monday, TBS reported. The 15-year-old victim was talking to a male friend outside the apartment block when she was attacked by a woman brandishing a knife. The woman slashed the girl on her left arm before fleeing the scene, police said.

The girl's attacker was described as being around 40 years of age, roughly 150 cm tall and wearing a black sweater and glasses.

At that size I guess the victim's arm was the only thing the culprit could reach!

On yesterday's slashing I said the perps were not always men. This happens every year around this time and continues into the summer. Every year there are around 20 or more of these slashings. It is pretty frightening really and the victims are usually young girls.

Hmmm, although not mentioned, I realise how loud a couple of teens talking can be, of course there's no need to go crazy-ape-bonkers with a knife......but I imagine they were being noisy outside her apartment. Guess we'll never get the full story.

Yes, looks like knife season is upon us again. Not sure why the springtime brings out the knife crazies....

Daily slasher report is in!

I hope the male friend chased after this crazy lady. If I was in high school again, I would be attempting to take her down on the spot and keep her down until the police arrived!

Probably a jealous old nut case.

Frightening events. This makes us think more before judging the stories. They are not always what you think they are. In this case we would think it was a guy. By the description that is one mean little rag.

can't Japan bring in some sort of knife laws like in England, where even carrying a knife without solid reason brings a heft fine and possible jail time. it hasn't completely eradicated knife crimes but has lowered it. It's depressing as hell seeing all these people getting attacked on an almost daily basis with knives.

Yep, that time of the year... box cutters and knife nuts. Be careful when you are on the train too... I would like to think the boy was looking after is injured gf and keeping an eye out for the knife welding nut.

You think people have no solid reason to have kitchen knives at home ?

I think everybody would be very surprised to find out just how many people carry knives for self defense in Japan. There are many! However, I do agree these kids were probably being noisy, but that it is what kids do and it was only around 8pm, not 2am. Hope they catch this crazed loon quickly.

There is always this kind of incidents 4 times in a week... These ppl are crazy. And it's very scary to think that these happenings are not quite far from where i live. I'm always aware on what or who's around me while i'm walking way home or even who's around me on train... I can't even walk now while listening to some music.. Very dangerous :/ Next time i think i'll walk holding my pepper spray till i get home. lol

A cut above. The cutting edge. Cut to the chase. Made the cut. Cut from the same cloth.

These sound like copy cat attacks, some by sane people others that have mental illness.

Unless you frisked every single person entering and leaving a building or had a metal scanner at the entrance or exit of every building how would this be effective in stopping people who are bent on attacking anyone. These aren't yobs that are attacking specific people like rivals.

What if she did it to herself to get sympathy or attention? There have been stories here where it was later discovered that's what happened. Besides, the alleged attacker was only 5 ft tall, wouldn't somebody that small shy away from violence for fear of getting hurt?

All of these random stabbings...people are really sick!

I initially suspected the woman to be the "male friend's" mother, but I would think that he would have recognized her.

Random slashings. Random bashings. I remember the good ol days when Japanese usually only attacked or killed their relatives.

Hmmm, about 40, wearing dark clothes, glasses-sunglasses? a Kardashian lunatic on the loose!

so?? male friend did nothing?...not even chase down the shorty?

Must be the Samurai DNA instilled in the Japanese people. Thank the lucky stars that they don't carry swords anymore or else everyone would be getting slashed.
