Woman restrained by dog collar dies in man's apartment

Police on Sunday questioned a 38-year-old man after a woman with whom he shared an apartment in Aomori was found dead with a dog collar around her neck.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Takashi Kuwano, confined the 31-year-old woman in the kitchen on Friday morning by locking a dog collar around her neck, Fuji TV reported. She was able to move no further than two meters. When Kuawano, who is a truck driver, returned home 8 1/2 hours later, the woman was lifeless on her knees, so he called 110, police quoted him as saying.

Police said the woman had no external injuries, but an autopsy on Saturday revealed she had died from multiple organ failure. Police suspect Kuwano may have been repeatedly abusing her.

Kuwano was quoted by police as saying he restrained the woman because he didn't want her to walk out on him.

I'm not sure I get this. Were her hands also tied? If not couldn't she use them to break loose or at least break whatever the collar was tied to from the wall? Wjhatever the case, the arested guy was one sick guy.

Well, she's out of your life forever now, you sick bastard.

In other words, she fretted herself to death. Lock this abusive loser up for a very very long time!

Put Kuwano in a tight dog collar till his last breath.

She was restrained with a dog collar, and they call it sharing an apartment together? New term for kidnapping? That's so sad she died from organ failure. Sounds like he didn't give her food or water while she was tied up.

Until Japan gets serious about domestic violence this crap will continue. Between the spouse abuse and the murdering of children Japan really needs to come to gripes with this issue.

2 ( +4 / -2 )

What a jerk. I wish we could do the same to him. He fully deserves it.

May have ?

I'm not sure I get this.

I don't think they mean a dog the animal... could be one of those SM Middle-Age torture collar, that he could lock. Maybe some call them dog collar. Well she died and that's not an accident.

Please amend the law to include this kind of causing death as murder that work hanging as punishment. Let him die! What a cowardice doing such cruelty to a lady! He is going to repeat this if he were to go free after a few years punishment. Think about her family members!!

WTF... just like a western movie. Sad, sad, sad for the woman and her family. Wonder what kind of Japenese man is he commiting this kind of selfishness and cruelty to a human being. This man should be hung asap.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

This is sad beyond belief. Is there any way that Kuwano can be sentenced to spend the rest of his life attached to a dog collar in a kitchen where he can't move more than 2 meters? ( a week? )

I've heard of "blue collar" crime and "white collar" crime, but "dog collar crime" is new to me!!

questioned a 38-year-old man

Questioned but not arrested or detained ( which is a polite word for arrested ) !!!! Okay Okay !!!

Good One !!!!

I guess he fled somewhere

Bondage in Japan is legal !!!!

I hope he fries.

Wow, right out of some sick horror story. I hope this guy gets all the legal punishment he has coming, and then some.

"Questioned but not arrested"

OMG! Thanks to whiskey, I just realized the guy hasn't actually been arrested! What the...

ARREST THE GUY ALREADY!

some commented she may have died from lack of food or water while chained up.

assuming that the part about being chained up for 1 day is true, that pretty much can't be the cause of death. no-one dies from missing food and water for just one or two days, unless already sick.

it said he may have been "repeatedly abusing her", so I imagine getting hits to the body that led to organ failure? or might she have suicided by leaning into her dog collar thus strangling herself and causing organ failure?

I was shocked by some crimes news from Japan. Homicide crimes are not strange in everyday life in Australia. However, Japan is still one of the a few safest countries on earth when we left Japan 15 years ago. What kind of society Japanese peoples have in their lives in Japan today? Government and politicians are only interesting in power and no one has really interesting to build up good country. Do Japanese peoples know their neighbor and talk to them often as old day?

"Japan is still one of the a few safest countries on earth..." Reaaaaaly? I thought there was only one safest country.

Yes, really. Of course they have violent creeps in this country too, as the one described in this article. But that does not change the big picture.

3 ( +3 / -0 )

Japan is safe but I do think the creeps are creepier. There is some really sick stuff going on here that is normally in the movies, not the newspapers.

Horrible crime!! I think because Japan is so repressed under its societal ways that people do these heinous things to others around them. Ware Ware Nihonjin pride isn't changing the children from being abused and neglect, shoved in closets to be starved to death or from people being bound and detained like this poor woman. Older adults killing their elders because they got tired of caring for them? Didn't want to be lonely so they dog collar a person? WHAT!? This nation is killing itself off by targeting innocent children and the elderly. Japan must lighten up on itself or people will continue to do these inane acts of killing because they simply are frustrated or scared of being alone! Tell me does Hapan even have psychologists or is it taboo to vent ones pain and seek out help???

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Still angry and my spelling errors reflect that. Ugh! Please Japan help each other. Don't take all the pressure and turn it on yourselves, babies, and elders!

Eric, how is Japan safe? Oh right, for men. Between DV, stalking and sexual harassment at work, in the shops or on the train, I can promise you that Japan is NOT safe for women. If only the government and locals would start to look into how women get treated here they might actually do something to make it safer. However, burying their heads and repeat "Japan is a safe country, Japan is a safe country..." Not exactly safe when the one who supposedly loves you chain you up like a dog and he gets "questioned" rather than arrested for abuse and wrongful death now is it?

2 ( +3 / -1 )

One can only hope this sick bastard gets all the LOVE he wished for in PRISON!!! How long would one go to prison to pay for that kind of suffering??? 5, 10 lifetimes? I am not for "an eye for an eye" but some times the crime is just so heinous that gets you wondering...By this short article you can imagine the torture went on for a very long time. Would this guy end up having the same sentence as a couple using a dog leash for pleasure that went awfully wrong???

so wait was the collar deliberitly too tight to where she cant breathe or was she tied up and gagged somewhere and tried to make an failed escape? not enough information :/

0 ( +0 / -0 )

granted i reread it and saw the organ failure, now if he knew she had those problems and didnt allow her to take care of it thats really bad espically if it was fatal.

Japan may have safe streets, but between domestic violence and child murders, indoors are dangerous as hell,

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

bob- it' s all the pent up stress from keeping an extreme (and hey, successful) poker face all day everyday in the face of adversity, fun, attractive opposite sex, humiliation and personal failings, etc etc, it has to come out somewhere, sometime.

Japan is way safer for women too than most other countries in the world. All the terrible crimes that you read about, including this one, happen everywhere else too. Only more so, and without the kneejerk "blame this country" comments in the readers section.

It's interesting how much everybody hates violence but wants to use violence and prison rape to solve this kind of problem. It doesn't take much to make people scream for blood, does it?

So are ALL developed nations so the whole "Japan is safe, Japan is safe" could easily be replaced with "The US is safe, the US is safe" when comparing it to the rest of the world. Indeed, all these crimes DO happen elsewhere but I don't see any other nationality going on and on and on and on about how "safe" their country is like Japan does. See how it works? Yep, Japan IS a "safe" country compared to many others but so then is Oz, NZ, Canada, the US, the US, Germany.... Yet, they address the issues of crime, DV, rape, stalking... much, much more than Japan does. Surely you can't disagree with that - though no doubt, you will.

Japan is safer than all of those by a far shot. Live in any of those and try to move as carefree as you can in Japan, and you will soon find out.

That no place in the world is 100% safe is a given.

Stuff like this really psses me off. I sincerely hope that justice is served, whether by karmic balance or effective laws for such a sick individual.

Why isn't he charged with murder? And "dies" in the title seems erroneous. Is murdered?

I hope he fries

Ironically, Japan uses hanging.
