A woman came into a police station in Yoshino, Gifu Prefecture, on Wednesday, and threatened to kill a police officer and then herself. The 21-year-old woman, who has been identified as Kana Hamachi, entered the police station at around 8:15 a.m., and produced a kitchen knife she had concealed in a rolled towel.
She brandished the knife toward the desk officer who spoke with her for around 20 minutes before she surrendered the weapon. Hamachi was arrested for a breach of the Swords and Firearms Control Law.
Hamachi, who had a part-time job in Gifu, was known to police and first made the officer's acquaintance three years ago. In June of this year, she threw a lit firecracker into a different Gifu police station and was arrested for obstruction of police duties. She was fined and released. According to the police report, Hamachi also threatened to kill the police sergeant in charge of that investigation.© News reports
