Could they be a little more specific with the details, though? I mean the hotel room. For example, if it was a standard hotel with front desk, lobby, and what not they mightn't have a hard time finding the perp. If it was a love hotel, which it may well have been, it'll be a lot harder.

It used to be a capsule hotel but they converted it into a restaurant/ regular hotel a few years ago I think but it may be a love hotel. Never been in but been by a couple of times.

Anyway, whether or not you know it, most if not all love hotels have lobby cameras for this exact kind of purpose (since, as with here, 'guests' have been murdered in the places and what not), though they of course always explicitly say there are none to maintain confidentiality.

Not all love hotels have cameras. It depends on how expensive it is, where it is located or has crime happened there in the past. There is a big difference between love hotels. They range from like a five star hotel to a hole in the wall. Same thing goes for karaoke places.

A quick net search shows that yes, it's a love hotel, with rates for 2h or 12h in the daytime. There are cosplay uniforms available, etc etc.

At the least they'll have good camera footage of him.

I have walked past the place. Near Nagano Station. Remember it, because it kind of stood out in the neighbourhood. Definitely a love hotel, yes. And no, I don´t think all love hotels have monitor cameras in the lobby. And certainly not in the rooms...

A Love Hotel is for descretely slipping away for a rendezous with a loved one or someone elses loved one. Secrecy is the game, so I doubt they would violate this trust with a camera in the lobby, or outside for that matter. This'll be solved with DNA, or tracking the payment if possible. Or maybe I'm putting to much faith into the local police...

Really sad. I don't care what she had done... she did not deserve this.

I don't know if this particular hotel has cameras, but having video cameras in the lobby and in the hallway on each floor is very common in Kabukicho, Shibuya and places in Osaka. I went to hotels in a group before--me and a date and a friend and his date. Some hotels don't allow more than two people in a room, so we got rooms on the same floor and figured we'd just pay for two rooms but we'd share a room so we could swap girls. Both times I've tried this, the staff instantly called our room as soon as we walked in as a group, and said that we couldn't do that. Must have been watching from the video camera in the hallway.

Pathat: Delivery Health employee is one possibility, but the reason why she didn't have any ID on her was most likely because the man took it all with him.

I am always for the idea that non only foreigners, as it is at present, but even Japanese citizens should carry ID cards. It really makes things much easier for all parties involved. Whether the above victim was Japanese or not, I think carrying IDs should be mandatory.

I take it you too have not been to a love hotel in Japan for a long time, or ever? Otherwise, you would be familiar with the pay machines at the entrace of the each room, which you need to feed with money before the door unlocks, so you can leave.

Some hotel may have a snuff video now. I hope not. But I have heard the urban legend of the mirror breaking and a video camera being behind it. I do hope that security cameras can tell the police what the guy looks like. Bloody terrible to go and do that to someone you just had a bonk with.
