Woman found strangled to death in Kanazawa hotel room

Police in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, have arrested a woman who was found in a business hotel room next to the body of a murder victim.

According to police, staff at the Toyoko Inn Kanazawa Kenrokuen Korinbo in Kanazawa found the 33-year-old victim, who has been named as Miyuki Segi, 33, lying dead in a room at around 10:40 a.m. on Monday. TBS reported that another woman, identified as Suzuko Terakado, 43, checked in with the victim and was found in the room with her body.

Police said that Segi was found dead lying face up in bed, having apparently been strangled with a cord or rope.

TBS quoted investigators as saying that beside the bruising on her throat, no other obvious signs of injury were visible and that Segi was fully clothed when her body was found.

Terakado has denied killing Segi but said she and the victim were having trouble, police said.

How were they exactly found? Someone call? Someone see?

How were they exactly found? Someone call? Someone see?

Past check out time, probably cleaners.

Could be that the husband was cheating, wife found the phone pretended to be him to meet at said hotel and she took care of business. OR self-asphyxiation gone wrong?

Not enough details

My vote is for triangle or money.

Why was she "fully clothed" in bed?

And it can't have been cleaners who found her, since they don;t come into a room where there are still people, and it says the other woman was still in the room. It;'s all rather odd.

She was found in the same hotel room with the body, not having called for help (presumably) and she and the victim were having troubles. Yes she denies killing her??! Am really interested in who she is going to pin this on then. Or did the victim strangle herself?

Ah difficult case, J Cop says suicide must be reason.

Terakado has denied killing Segi but said she and the victim were having trouble, police said.

... I call bullshit. Let's quickly explore the alternatives:

3rd party - Okay, so some stranger comes in and strangles Segi. Why did Terakado do nothing? Why didn't she even scream?

Segi strangles herself. Moving past the fact that this biologically impossible (the muscles relax once you go unconscious) again why didn't Terakado do anything? CPR? Call an ambulance?

No, but far the most likely and logical option is that Terakado killed Segi and is now playing the gender card to get away with it. ... and you know, it might just work. If it was a man in a room with another dead man there's no chance in hell it would work, but a woman... well, it might just work.

More likely she'll claim split personalities and say her "other" self did the killing.

Could be that the husband was cheating, wife found the phone pretended to be him to meet at said hotel and she took care of business.

Not very likely considering:

TBS reported that another woman, identified as Suzuko Terakado, 43, checked in with the victim and was found in the room with her body.

The murder happened across the street from my office. Local scuttlebutt( a couple of my friends are reporters at the local newspapers) is that the women were in a relationship and had a fight of some sort that got completely out of hand. Lots of people in town are being surprisingly hush-hush about the whole thing.
