Woman gets 9 years in prison for killing husband with lethal dose of insulin

The Saitama District Court has sentenced a 54-year-old woman to nine years in prison after she was found guilty of murdering her husband with a lethal dose of insulin at their home in Saitama City on June 3 last year.

Kinuko Wakui was convicted Monday of beating her husband, Toshio (then 70), with a cane and then injecting him in the thigh with an insulin overdose at their residence in Uruwa Ward, Sankei Shimbun reported.

The court heard that Wakui was angry with her husband because he spent his welfare money betting on horse races.

After her arrest, Wakui had claimed that the injection of insulin was to help relax her husband.

"54-year-old woman . . . murdering her husband . . . then 70." Hmm. Insurance payout? Looking for a younger man of 60 or so? Nine years makes her 63 when she gets out. Smart judge.

With these ridiculously light sentences for murder, and virtually no-jail time for sex crimes (and pedophilia), I'm surprised there aren't any people traveling here to partake in a Hostel-like club (Hostel, the movie).

Women seem to get light sentences for murder.

I hope his blood relatives do something when she gets released. 9 years is too short for snuffing out the life of another human being.

9 years is still not enough. Should have been 20.

There is perhaps no greater agony than suffering the effects of low blood sugar.
