Woman held for attempted murder after driving 1 km with husband on car hood

Police said Tuesday they have arrested a 28-year-old woman on a charge of attempted murder after she drove her car for one kilometer with her husband, 34, clinging to the hood of her car.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. last Saturday. TV Asahi reported that the couple are embroiled in a bitter divorce. Police were quoted as saying that they were arguing over their divorce at a hotel in Chuo Ward. As Hitomi Takaishi got into her car to leave the hotel, her husband stood in front and tried to stop it.

Police said Takaishi kept going and drove in a zigzag for one kilometer while her husband clung to the hood. When the car finally stopped, the husband fell off and asked a passer-by to call police. He suffered only light injuries, police said.

Takaishi has denied any intent to kill her husband, police said.

Seriously, Nessie?

How long do you think she should have sat in her car, waiting for the nutter to calm down and leave OR get a brick and smash her window? Because if she had no way to call the police (and we don't know if she did - the husband didn't, after all), that would have been her option - do nothing.

It kind of pisses me off that you say that, Nessie, as it represents the quandary that women being threatened face every day.

Women are told not to fight back when attacked as it makes the attacker more angry; but if you don't fight back, nobody believes you were really being threatened. Often, unless you have physical proof that you were attacked. nothing will be done.

So what, she should have sat there, in a vehicle that is entirely capable of getting her out of a dodgy situation, doing what - screaming? Silently waiting? Listening to a bit of light jazz?

Screw that. She did the right thing, she drove off slowly, she didn't plough the fool down, she tried to keep him safe by driving slowly, she tried to get him to let go of the car by swerving gently , but the guy chose to hang on to the hood of her car like a sticky turd on the sole of her shoe.

He endangered himself, and is blaming her, as the police are now doing. It's utter crap.

See? Now you've really annoyed me. I just had a nice dinner of roasted new potatoes with garlic, and some mozzarella cheese, and you've ruined my pleasurable digestion of it.

And before you say that's not threatening, would you rather she had waited till he tried to open the car door and get in / drag her out?

You never heard of power locks?

Dude is 34 years old which is a little too old to realize there are other fish in the sea. Let her go to make another person's life miserable.

Lock them both up! Done

He was dumb to jump on the car. The only other way he would have ended up on the hood is if she drove at him and he fell on it (highly unlikely). She should have stopped the car immediately and called police. I think she was wrong for driving with him on the hood and her arrest is justified. Pity there was no dash cam!

@Fadamor

She can just say " i didn't see him i was checking my facebook page on my phone"

Just another example of people not using their seat belts and child safety seats. Since 10Yen man is in prison for a year, lock both of these adults in the same cell and I hope they can learn to live like adults.

People complain of the kids riding their bikes, but adults are far worse and far-far more dangerous. And where are the parents? -What is their view on all this.

He put himself in harm's way all by himself. She felt threatened and decided to drive off. Good decision I think. Arrest for attempted murder is over the top.

crazy woman

And before you say that's not threatening, would you rather she had waited till he tried to open the car door and get in / drag her out?

Yes, that was not a convertible car. He would have tried and she or a passer-by would have called the police. Well, I don't know why they divorce, but it seems they married because they were equally crazy.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Hahaha !!! Imagine seeing that as it happens !!!! Hahaha !!! Priceless

The guy must have been screaming for his life.....

What kind of car was it ? I want to know.....

@maria : such a live commentary, seems you wintnessed the whole drama (!)

She didn't have to. It's obvious that the woman didn't slam on the brakes because if she had, the man's four fingers on each hand would have been left curled under the hood as his body shot in front of the car. The ligaments and tendons in your fingers just aren't designed to handle those kinds of forces.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Nonsense! First of all, it says he STOOD in front of the car, not jumped on the hood for a joy-ride. That means she forwarded regardless of his standing there, and that's attempted murder any way you slice it. In any case, it's not his fault even if he DID jump on the hood, as you assumed without reading, and she decided to drive off and try to throw him off the vehicle.

Hey Einstein, how do you figure he went from standing in front of her car to being on her hood without jumping? Remember, he only sustained "light injuries" out of that whole thing. If she had struck his legs with her car hard enough to throw him onto the hood, I guarantee his injuries would be more than "light". I'm also not so sure about this attempted murder charge. She couldn't have been traveling very fast if she was swerving for a kilometer and he didn't fall off or sustain more than "light injuries". Hollywood movies aside (where the stunt people wear harnesses to prevent getting thrown off), you're not going to hang on very long if there was any speed to the vehicle and it's throwing you left and right.

Osaka?? No surprise here!!

-3 ( +1 / -4 )

I also have to agree with all the people siding with the woman here. I hope she's not tried too severely, if a man is blocking your way and barricading your car with his own body he means business and things could easily escalate. Im sure she thought he'd move but he chose not to, knowing full well what was coming.

4 ( +6 / -2 )

Oh, and if the woman was particularly aggressive I wouldn't rule out her standing in front of the car trying to stop it. That's what that act is: aggression. Hardly passive is it?

-3 ( +2 / -5 )

Maria's description sounds pretty realistic to me... why else would the man stand in front of the car to stop it? Was he Superman?

0 ( +6 / -6 )

@maria : such a live commentary, seems you wintnessed the whole drama (!)

0 ( +4 / -4 )

She was trying to leave a difficult situation to prevent it escalating. Good. That's what you're supposed to do.

He tried to prevent her leaving by acting in a threatening manner. Bad.

And before you say that's not threatening, would you rather she had waited till he tried to open the car door and get in / drag her out?

He acted aggressively - she at least didn't speed up and then slam the brakes on.

Wife to police-Thats not what Imeant when Itold him, “車、乗れ!”

2 ( +3 / -0 )

Classic PMT, be careful out there chaps.

0 ( +2 / -3 )

Smith he was trying to stop her leaving - it's not as if he was just minding his own business is it? If she had hit him and he ended up on the bonnet (I refuse to say hood) he would have more than just light injuries... his legs would be broken. So he must have leapt onto the bonnet.

1 ( +5 / -4 )

Ah, divorce! It's always entertaining. It was a pretty stupid thing to do. No way I would stand in front of a car my ex was driving. "Hell has no fury like a woman scorned!" He is lucky he is not dead!

8 ( +7 / -1 )

If he wanted a lift, why didn't he just ask?

7 ( +8 / -1 )

His fault.

-2 ( +6 / -8 )

Where are all those dashcam when you need them. I think this would make a good youtube upload. It is hard to tell who is to blame but the woman should not have kept going with the husband on the car. Attempted murder sounds too extreme depending on the speed of the car but, every one who has been down that road (the divorce) knows it is something that really drains the best of you senses... But if she really tried to hurt him...

Thunderbird2: "Unless she moved at superspeed he would have seen her getting into the car and heard the engine starting. I'm sorry, but he shouldn't have been standing in her way in the first place."

Ahhh... now he was standing in her way and not 'jumping on the hood' like you said before. If I stand in front of a car that is not moving, and that car moves forward and hits me, it's the car's fault, not mine. She is guilty. Stop defending the attempted murderer.

So much for alimony!

2 ( +5 / -4 )

He is an idiot for standing in front of his soon to be ex during an argument about the divorce.

3 ( +7 / -4 )

There's something on my bonnet....

7 ( +8 / -2 )

Well he's a bloody idiot for doing it in the first place. He should just have let her drive off instead of clearly jumping onto the bonnet. I think HE is the one with issues here. Muppet.
