Woman in critical condition after being stabbed on Yokohama street

A 34-year-old woman suffered serious injuries after she was stabbed in the back and side by a man as she walked home in Yokohama early Sunday.

According to police, the woman was attacked at around 3:30 a.m. in a shopping district of Kanagawa Ward. Fuji TV reported that a newspaper deliveryman called 119 and said a woman was lying on the street, bleeding and calling out for help.

The woman, who lives nearby, told police she did not recognize her attacker. She remained in a serious condition on Sunday afternoon.

No weapon was found at the scene, leading police to believe the attack was carried out at random.

I hope very much that the victim recovers and goes on to live a full and happy life, despite the appalling trauma of this attack.

I hope the POS who did this is caught and sent to prison where he can't hurt anyone else.

In another article, about a woman being killed, a poster wrote:

people are getting numb to seeing stories like this.

Numb. As a reaction to the daily violence against both woman and men, perpetrated overwhelmingly by men, that is a horrifying reaction.

I am not numb, I am angry at every new attack, and at every attacker who makes excuses, and at every person who blithely blames the victims.

Who was the guy on here yesterday saying stabbings don't happen for no reason? I suppose I could just look it up, but please do try to point me to which stabbing thread it was on.

Horrified is the reaction most would feel here!

Hope that it is not a trend....!

That’s sucks I hope she’s doing fine with her conditions.... i hope there is no back story between her and her unknown suspect. Who knows it could be a stalker because the suspect can’t just attack randomly. I just hope for her safety I’d totally keep an eye on her and continue for investigation making sure the suspect may not came back for her. And yes this suspect must get caught!

a newspaper deliveryman called 119

Good thing there was a newpaper delivery man (they are overwhelmingly men) in the area. They really are the unsung heros of the night, driving up and down all the little streets on their Honda cub motorcycles keeping an eye on things and reporting suspicious activity to the police.

Hope she recovers. This is obviously another random stabbing carried out by a complete nutter.

I just hope they catch this loon.

Cherrylyn, whether there is a back story or not is irrelevant to the unacceptable crime this person has committed. Sadly yes they can just attack randomly. As to anything else we just don’t know as yet; all any of us can do is hope for the best for the victim and hope the perpetrator is found soon.

Lots of crazies in the world, with all the random attacks you hear about.

Generally, they are always truly random. But I have noticed that in Japan, it's always a woman or a young girl who is targeted, never another man. I wonder what that says about lots of Japanese men...

I have an impression that the targets of random stabbing is mostly woman, too. But now a few men have been targeted by random stabbings as well.

Sensei258, “You can bet when they find this guy he will be an unemployed 30 something”

Except the man they arrested is 76.
