Woman in mental institution who killed another patient says she is 'robot'

A 23-year-old woman who was transferred from one mental institution to another this week killed a patient, a woman in her 80s, one day after arriving at the facility in Ome, Tokyo.

The suspect, who was transferred to the hospital on Monday, has admitted to killing the woman on Tuesday, but has been rambling, police said. She was quoted as saying, “I am a robot and when I am switched on, I move without any control over my actions.”

According to police, the suspect, who is from Yashio, Saitama Prefecture, went into the room of the victim at Nariki Chosei Hospital at around 12:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Sankei Shimbun reported. Police said she placed a pillow over the elderly woman’s face and started punching her.

A male nurse on duty near the room heard thumping sounds and went to investigate. He found the woman beating the victim and restrained her, while another employee called police.

Police said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

“I am a robot and when I am switched on, I move without any control over my actions.”

Who in heck switched her on?!? Seriously though, poor old lady...may she rest in peace.

Yep. She is definitely where she belongs. In a Looney bin.

Mental health is very important for every one, take care of it.

Serious failure of her doctors to recognise her danger to others and ensure she was prevented from harming anyone. A locked door would have prevented this tragedy.

A robot, no way? Maybe if she would be a cyborg, that would be okay.

Was the 80-year old Sarah Connor? We should not take this lightly. Perhaps the robot/t-800 series could peel back her arm to reveal the metallic endoskeleton to prove her claim.

Oh, so this crazed and delusional patient was just left to wander around the hospital without any supervision? It seems to me that she should have been in lock down at 1 o'clock in the morning.

“I am a robot and when I am switched on, I move without any control over my actions.”

That beats the "I was drunk I don't remember" card...

Somebody please hit her reset button. This is a case the family will win in court if they decide to sue the hospital for wrongful death.

“I am a robot and when I am switched on, I move without any control over my actions.”

Seems like someone has been watching too many movies. Or could she be a sleeper assassin?
