A man stole a woman's bag containing 190,000 yen and was then pursued by the victim and her sister before being arrested by police in Tokyo.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 10:50 p.m. on April 13 in the parking lot outside a pachinko parlor in Mizuho, Tokyo. Sankei Shimbun reported that the suspect, Jo Miura, 22, slowly drove up behind the 51-year-old woman, snatched her bag and then drove off.
The woman, who suffered light injuries after she fell to the ground, got into her sister's car and they chased Miura before losing him. However, the women were able to report the license plate number and make of car to police who intercepted Miura's car about an hour later 30 kms away in Okutama.
Police said Miura, who is a NHK fee collector, had been at the pachinko parlor for nearly two hours before committing the crime. He was quoted as saying he really wanted the money.© Japan Today
