That is a form of victim blaming, after you also say she'd be wearing high hells and strutting along. What about blaming the guy for pulling out a knife and slashing a stranger for no reason, and being unable to control himself or seek professional help?

Men have the responsibility to control themselves and have NO RIGHT to other women. I personally have been assaulted in Thailand and would never go there again, but in Japan which is a modern, educated country there is no excuse or reasoning for women to be attacked.

As another poster said, this was an assault and not sexual in nature, but in a way it is likely that it was for the attacker - perhaps he hates young women for rejecting him, or he wants to control vulnerable women etc etc

I look forward to entering my company in Tokyo from April, wearing red lipstick, high heels and a short skirt on Friday night, and having lots of fun. I will not walk in back streets alone and will take other precautions, but if I am assaulted it is by no means my fault!

If you read the whole sentence about the tiger you will get my meaning. It is the concept of 'rights' that is ridiculous. If you have a right to molest me (as a tiger has a right to eat me) then you have a responsibility to not do that. People do not always carry out their responsibilities, so others have to make allowances for that.

Well, focusing on the fact she was a woman -she is a woman and generally us women do not have the strength of a man. It could also apply to a man of weaker strength than another. And generally it is men that do the attacking!

I don't recall saying it was a sex-crime, I did not mention sexual assault. I only said 'molest'.

I am only using my experience of several decades on this planet and I do know that a woman in skimpy clothing is far more likely to be molested than a covered woman. I believe it's called temptation!

Who cares what she was wearing? This was an assault, the article mentions nothing of a sexual assault. Even if it did, her wearing a short skirt does not give does not mean the assualt is her fault.

You wouldn't believe how many women HAVE shouted me down! (Where does the idea of 'sisters' come from I wonder?!) It has been suggested to me that I walk alone at night to enforce my RIGHTS (how they work that out is beyond me). However I think if I had taken that advise I would not be here now to type this!

If it is my right not to be eaten by a tiger, will it prevent the tiger from eating me (as his his right)? If I have a right to be unmolested then it will not prevent a man from molesting me (as is his right). Rights come with responsibilities, and my responsibility is to keep myself safe.

I hope they find this guy, a coward he may be but this is a clear sign of terrible choices and sociopath behavior. He needs to be caught before he does it again.

@Kittychosen Thank you. If I as a man suggested women do these things to protect themselves, I would be shouted down. You, as a woman, are allowed to speak sense about women protecting themselves. If I said it, I would be accused of "blaming the victim", even though the point is not the past and the victim, but rather the future and all YOU other women out there.

Also take pictures if necessary, The IPhone or phone camera pictures are big crime stopper in the US these days, You can upload pics on a website, utube etc if the j-cops are unavailable...

I, as a woman, would never in my right mind walk home alone at 3.30am in a town or city! In the countryside, where I am now, I would sooner dive into the hedge rather than let a strange car spot me at night. Why should I assume that because I live in a so-called 'civllised' society, that all civilians will be able to put instinct aside and leave me unmolested? I prefer to assume that human nature is what it is, has not changed throughout history, so therefore I should take precautions.

The Japanese crime rate is just a bunch of fudged smoke and mirrors! Did you not read the report last week about Osaka police concealing over 80,000 crimes? That's just one city. You can bet that there are many other cities following suit.

Women and Children are still far safer in Japan than most other places in the world. I am not why people think that in a country of 125 million there won't be any crime.
