Woman slashed on Yamanote line

A woman was slashed on her leg while traveling on the JR Yamanote line in Tokyo on Friday morning.

According to a TBS report, the woman noticed blood seeping from a 10-cm horizontal cut in her pants on the back of her upper left leg when the train pulled into Osaki Station at 8:45 a.m. She got off the train and notified station personnel who contacted police.

Police quoted the woman as saying she felt nothing and is not sure whether she was cut on the train or while she was waiting on the platform.

Last December, two female train passengers were also slashed in separate incidents on the Minatomirai Line and Keihin Tohoku Line in Kanagawa prefecture.

Scalpel, X-Acto blades are very sharp and easily available at yodobashi, etc.

Trains in my Tokyo are so packed that you can't see what a person 2 feet is doing below shoulder-level. Unless some posters know a different Tokyo to mine. ;)

Ah, the daily slasher report. Yeah, this is place is safe alright.

People that think reports like this mean that Japan is a dangerous country are fooled by emotions instead of responding to logic. If this country were not safe, then these reports would be buried in the sea of worse reports, like in other countries. The very fact that stories like this make the news only accentuate Japan's safety, not disprove it.

Of course half the posters on this site will whine and claim otherwise.

It would have to have been incredibly sharp for her not to have felt it, possibly a scalpel.

This is becoming an almost daily event and the victims are always women. However, there have been a few women arrested for random slashings Over the past few years, so it is not fair to assume the perp is a guy.

Wtf is wrong with these people and why only to women? Go slash a man and see what happens to you. More cowards on the train yet again.

There are crazy people everywhere in every culture. Always has been and always will be. Most of the murders I read about are with family members not against strangers. Perhaps the person doing this gets a sick kick out of seeing someone bleed and knowing he made them bleed. Sick minds want to hurt other people.

Answer your own question?

They are cowards who only attack people that they perceive as weaker than themselves. The ones that target little kids and school girls are especially despicable.

Funny someone does not agree that sick minds want to hurt people and there are crazy people in every culture and nation. hmm.

So some girl notices a scratch and it makes the news? Seriously?! She could have accidentally done it herself. She's not even sure she did get slashed and she felt nothing!

A lot of these seem like copy cat attacks.

pure wimpiness and cowardness to do this. If the object is sharp enough, you won't feel it. Stop blaming the victim.

Yeah, this is place is safe alright.

Are you kidding? The fact that this is the top crime of the day shows how safe it is. The other top crimes involves fake money, underage prostitution, and shoplifting. Yeah, this place is safe alright.

IT"S A NINJA ATTACK!! geeezz... ninja's are so sneaky, they bite like mosquitoes.

Gawd. I kinda don't wanna go to work anymore after reading this... So that's it? They didn't caught the suspect? This city has bunch of cameras aroud. Make it useful.

Scary to think you wouldn't feel it. I nick myself shaving or with a Olfa knife cutting a box or the sharp cardboard paper cuts and I KNOW I MESSED UP. I respect my ceramic knives and the katana like sharp kitchen knife that scares anyone helping out in the kitchen when they mess up and then MESS UP THE COUNTER and floor bleeding all over it. That scumbag must be a ninja or this girl may have other issues she needs to address like not being able to feel a knife slicing her 10cm.

Oh and for the record, I worked in Osaki getting out at that JR station for a month on an IT move project. That area was always kind of depressing with half the place looking like a ghost town. A slasher in that area would surprise me as it was a sad area to be in.
