Police are searching for a woman who sprayed a can of what appeared to be teargas or mace in the women's toilet at JR Takadanobaba Station in Tokyo on Tuesday night.
According to police, the incident took place at around 10:30 p.m. NTV quoted police as saying that seven women were taken to hospital, complaining of eye and throat pain after they were sprayed. Doctors said that none of the women was seriously injured in the incident.
Police did not reveal whether the spray was thought to have been discharged accidentally or deliberately. Shortly following the incident, the woman ran to one of the station's platforms and is believed to have boarded a train, NTV reported.
Eyewitnesses describe the woman as being in her 20s, with long hair, wearing a black and white striped T-shirt. Police say they plan to review security camera footage from the scene.

Security footage seems a good idea.

Tear gas? I doubt it! More likely to be mace or pepper spray.

Sprayed teargas? Something is pretty strange about this one. Now it could be argued that anyone who did something like is probably isn't normal anyway, but it is harder than one thinks to sit there and hold an aerosol can and spray a gas without it affecting them as well, particularly teargas. There is always the threat of it blowing in their own face as well.
Was she wearing a gas mask? I'll bet it wasnt teargas but some other type of spray.
The cops better be investigating this one right quickly, not just anyone, can take a liquid compound and turn it into an aerosol spray.

probably accidental, and its probably OC spray, that stuff is harsh. i got sprayed with it during training... never again lol.

I agree Kim, most likely an accident. My other thought was revenge

More details- she sprayed these women on purpose? Was it mace and she thought she was being attacked and it got into someone else's eyes? What did these women/ any other witnesses say?

While there are a heap of wackos out there and a huge number of crimes committed that cannot be explained, I kind of find it hard to see this as intentional.

I feel this was an accident. She should simply come forward and take responsibility like she could have done in the first place.

OMG another Gas attack on Station

Accident or random act. There have been cases where people have done similar acts because they were just curious to the "what if" scenario.

Sorry about that. I ate a lot of natto, and I think the sushi was bad.

or maybe she just got it and wanted to test it out like "hmm I wonder how this works?" and then realized that it was a mistake as she sprayed it and panic and ran off(probably when she heard the other women coughing). you know how we all get curious when we buy new things. Like the red button that says "don't touch" makes you just want to press it to see what happens.
Scnadal.Lova
that is so dumb. who would do that?

Any one questioned why she sprayed it?
Perhaps she was being attacked and she used it in self defense, the police should look into why she used it as thoroughly as who used it.

Probably some problem in the spray valve and she ran to the toilet.
