A 24-year-old woman was in a serious condition Friday after being stabbed by a man whom she reported to police for stalking her in Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture.
According to police, the woman consulted with police on May 7 about a former acquaintance, Daichi Miyazaki, a 25-year-old truck driver. Police issued a warning to Miyazaki to stay away from the woman, Fuji TV reported.
However, on Thursday night, the woman was returning home from her job at 11 p.m. when she spotted Miyazaki's car parked near her home, though he was not in it. She went to a police station and asked for help. When police escorted her home around midnight, Miyazaki's car was nowhere to be seen, Fuji quoted officers as saying.
A few minutes after the woman went inside, police heard her scream. The suspect fled out the back way and about 20 minutes later he called police from a convenience store to turn himself in. The knife was found near the house.
Police said Miyazaki told them he climbed up the outside of the house and entered through an unlocked 2nd-floor window at about 9 p.m. He then waited until the woman came home.
The woman lived with her parents who were asleep at the time of the attack.© Japan Today
