Police in Matsue, Shimane Prefecture, said Friday that a 40-year-old woman was stabbed by an unknown assailant after she returned home on Thursday night.

According to police, the incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. The woman told police that she had just returned home with her 9-year-old daughter when a strange woman suddenly appeared from one of the rooms and stabbed her in the chest, TV Asahi reported. The suspect quickly fled the scene.

Police said the victim sustained stab wounds to the left side of her chest, but her injuries are not life-threatening. Her daughter was not hurt.

The victim said she did not know the woman who appears to have broken into the apartment, police said. She is described as being in her late 20s or early 30s, and was wearing a white dress.

Ask the husband who it was.

Wow. That we all thought the same thing is a bit scary. Says a lot about our overall opinion of people in general.

If the cops want to solve this, they should be talking with the husband. 20~30-something women don't fit the profile for break-ins, robbery, or random acts of violence. But spurned lover? Yeah, talk to the husband.
