A 25-year-old woman was stabbed and robbed in a parking lot in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, on Wednesday morning.

According to police, the woman, who is a nurse, had finished her shift and was about to drive home at 1 a.m., when she was attacked. She told police that a man whom she did not know emerged from behind a sign and stabbed her in the stomach, Fuji TV reported. The woman dropped her purse and the assailant stole 30,000 yen and fled, police said.

The woman was taken to hospital to be treated for a knife wound, and her condition is stable, police said.

Doesn't say which hospital nor where just "hospital" which could mean anywhere in reality.

And not all hospitals have emergency facilities either, so it could quite sensibly have been somewhere else.

@sfjp330 You are absolutely right, this area is normally really calm and beautiful, I've found tranquility here. I just hope the culprit is apprehended soon for everybody's sake.

I hope that the people "thumbing down" my post are never in a situation here in Japan where you need accute medical care and the hospital doesnt refuse to see you.

People here have been known to die in ambulances driving around looking for a hospital that will take them as a patient.

My son fell out of a tree (long story) and we took him to the nearest hospital, roughly 2 mintues away by car from where the accident occurred, they refused to see him because they didnt have a pediatric physican, but they hand an ENT which is what he needed.

Here is wishing her a fast recovery. I hope her state of mind can heal quickly too.

And I agree with Yubaru, I still cannot accept the fact that a hospital can choose whether or not to provide medical assistance to anyone. In my country, even private hospitals will take in a wounded person in the case of an emergency, and this is just something related to money, whereas here the choice is mostly related to how inconvenient it is to take the pacient in. Jesus.

Luckily she was leaving a hospital so she could get immediate service.

This is NEVER a safe assumption to make here in Japan. You could drop over with a heart attack in front of a medical center and they will call an ambulance to take you to a different hospital. That is not a joke either.

Also if you notice the article read;

Obviously the guy did not know how much she had before stabbing her, but I am sure she would have relinquished her purse upon him just brandishing the weapon. Hope they caught the robber on security camera.

Juan, I agree, it is safe place. Fukuyama is a small coastal town that is half way between Hiroshima city and Okayama. It's past Onomichi. I been there. Probably takes an hour with the bullet train going North. You see alot of older people living there.

Yeah I hope they catch this low life and stab him the same. Seriously this kind of attitude from people is just the lowest.

Where exactly in Hiroshima? I lived there before, it is a rather safe area. Who would stab a woman for only $30k yen?
