Police in Tokyo have arrested a 64-year-old man on suspicion of stabbing a woman in her 40s outside a convenience store on Thursday night.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:10 p.m. in Nerima Ward, Kyodo News reported. Police said they received a call from an employee at the convenience store who told them a woman bleeding from knife wounds to her stomach had staggered into the store.
The woman, who is from the Philippines, was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition Friday, police said.
The suspect, Morihito Mogami, was detained for questioning early Friday morning and arrested later in the day. Police said a passerby told them the man and woman had been having a loud argument shortly before she was stabbed.
Police said the victim is the manager of a nearby bar and that Mogami was a frequent customer.

Stabbing the bar mama now gets him behind the bar but he then can’t visit the bar.

Just moved here to Aomori, but I never thought I would have to consider watching my back in Japan. I realize it’s still safer than most countries, but it is kinda scary seeing so many of these random stabbings.

Never argue with the mama of a bar. You will only lose.

@AomoriExpat
The article clearly shows it's not a random stabbing.

Either way seems there’s more stabbings than I ever knew going on here in Japan. Like I said a little spooky

then don’t hang out in dodgy snack bars or soaplands.

This wasn't random, it was two people who knew each other escalating their argument. He will face charges for both the assault (possibly as an attempt to murder), and for possession of a bladed weapon without cause.
