Woman who shot elderly man with crossbow arrow to undergo psychiatric tests

A 28-year-old unemployed woman who was arrested for the attempted murder of a male acquaintance in his 70s with a crossbow in Nagano city has begun one month of psychiatric tests to determine if she is fit to stand trial.

Prosecutors said Natsumi Mizusawa will undergo a psychiatric evaluation until Oct 19, after which they will decide whether to proceed with an indictment, Sankei Shimbun reported.

Mizusawa, who was arrested on Sept 1, fired the crossbow arrow at the man while he was visiting her apartment at around 4:15 p.m. on Aug 31. The arrow lodged in the man’s right arm. He fled the scene by car and managed to drive to a friend’s home.

Police said Mizusawa and the victim had met several times before the incident. The man told the woman in advance that he would be visiting her.

Police have not revealed the relationship between the two.

It takes psychs ONE MONTH to determine if this lady is fit to stand trial?

She was fit enough to shoot the guy. She's fit enough to stand trial.

Without producing an apple as evidence she won't be able to use identity disturbance and the Wilhelm Tell defense!

Were this a musical overture, you'd be a Lone Ranger.

I’m quite sure that the results are a given.

It takes ONE MONTH because in psych, NOTHING is standardized.

Pseudoscience. Fake.

She was "unemployed", age 28, and had her own apartment that the 70-year old man was coming to visit (and told her he was coming ahead of time). Hmmm. Did she just happen to have a crossbow lying around? Other than some toys I have seen, I would have no idea where she could have gotten one, but perhaps it is the gunless society's equivalent of having a loaded shotgun ready to use.
