Wounded man dies in Saitama convenience store

Police in Yashio, Saitama Prefecture, said Monday they are investigating the death of a 24-year-old man who came into a 7-Eleven convenience store, bleeding from stab wounds and died shortly after.

According to police, the man, identified as Kodai Kiyota, came into the store at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. NTV quoted a store employee as saying he could barely walk and that he was bleeding from several parts of his body. He collapsed on the floor and was pronounced dead soon after.

Police said surveillance camera footage showed that the man had been involved in an altercation with a group of men outside the store. Several cars were seen in the 7-Eleven parking lot prior to the altercation, but they all left just before the victim struggled to get into the store, NTV reported.

Police said they are questioning Kiyota's friend and brother who were with him prior to the attack and they are also examining surveillance camera footage to identify the vehicles in the parking lot.

What is it with Saitama?

Los Saitama again. It does seem to be the rough part of Japan at times.

"What is it with Saitama?"

Haven't you ever taken an express train that cuts thru Saitama and looked out the window? It's grim.

Yeah, I travel through saitama a couple of times a month for work. It's a completely different race of people up there. Lots of orange hair and fray track suits. Too many punks up there for my likings.

Nice place to be from...far away from!

As someone who knows very very little about saitama , i notice the comments are always negative, so, a question -

Is saitama really that bad??!!

Smig1975. Saitama is just as good or bad as Gunma, Tochigi, Tokyo, Kanagwawa or any other prefecture in Japan.

It can be. I spent about 6 months in a more rural part in the 90s, which was pretty, but the people were a bit (New Jersey? Essex? West Sydney?).

Wow what friendship!! Wait worse brotherly love!

Certainly an argument for National Knife control and registration.

I don't know what really happened but this guy, heavily wounded, saw the sign of a combini and used all his power to run into the lighted space of the shop in the middle of the night for help, and he died.

He didn't abandon his effort to stay alive to the end and did his best. I'm proud of this guy and pray for his soul to be sent to the Heaven. I wonder what was on his mind when he made it in the combini.

his brother and friend were with him and they left? is that correct?if it is how could they leave him to die alone especially his brother? maybe they couldn't prevent the attack, but they should have at least tried to stop the bleeding and call for help.

DaDudeJul. 22, 2014 - 12:06AM JST Oh yes, Saitama sounds terrible. Overweight people? If you ever return to your hometown, you may have a heart attack seeing the rolls on people.

And the hilarity of someone apparently expecting to meet the crème de la crème at Costco. :)

Or maybe, the brother is the one who did the stabbing.

Shouldn't that be "who were with him prior to the attack"?

Hope they can get the guys who did it.

Last time I checked, police question everyone, all the time, always in Japan.
