About 20 million yen was stolen by a man at a pachinko parlor in Kounosu City, Saitama Prefecture, on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, a man with a gun-like object threatened a 28-year-old employee, demanding money at around 5:15 p.m., while the parlor was full of customers. The employee was collecting money from pachinko machines, police said. None of the other employees nor customers noticed the incident, police said.
The employee told police that the suspect is about 160 cm tall, in his 40-50s, and was wearing a green jacket and blue jeans.

Crimes of this nature can be expected to soar as the economy tanks. At least private security firms will be hiring.

This is the eye-catcher, eh? Like ignoring things is anything new in Japan, especially in the hypnotically alluring Pachinko Parlor, where all senses are numb and there exists only...Pachinko: the Goddess of smoky rooms and tiny balls.

Maybe he needed the money to buy an LV bag for that girl in Gusto.

Jackpot!!!

Lol... Good for the parlor! They needed to have this lesson! This is how you properly collect money from any kind of machines: Hire two armed police officers to stand on guard while you collect the money!

I don't understand... what is a pachinko parlor?

Well I am sure the Gangsters that own the place have insurance. Hey, they may have just hit a double Jackpot.

Inside Job!!

whitepocky - I agree. Those places are always crowded. Somebody would have seen it. And what is a "gun-like object" anyway?

Please explain what ‘pachinko parlor is' I never heard of it. Yes sure this is a great jackpot. What that an inside job? Someone has been doing a good 'MATHS' lessons. I wonder who the teacher was. In such instance of robbery better give them what they ask to avoid going into six feet hole.

More than likely it was a Yak who robbed the joint!! They are easy hits w/ loads of cash. The police won't lift a finger either as they just turn the other cheek when it comes to P.Parlors. Too many Yaks involved.

meanwhile, his 25 year old partner is counting their take...

This is like $200,000 USD right? Honestly, is this even logistically possible? Sounds like a fake story to me. Maybe the parlor owner's excuse for coming up short to the Yakuza bosses.

20 million! That must be 1 days worth of money! damn pachinko parlors are raking it in! Put a tax on these guys straight away, it's not gambling remember you only can win prizes... gotta love the double standard :)

I can't believe they pulled it off! This is great! We've consulted on logistics for months (speak Chinese, use black vans), but we never thought they could pull it off. Good for them!

And only took one guy with a plastic toy gun to pull this off... and how did he carry the money anyway? Do journalists in Japan ask even basic questions? Do cops? Sheesh.
