Train services on Tokyo’s JR Yamanote line were temporarily suspended Saturday night after a man threw a bicycle onto the railway tracks.
Police said they are looking for the person responsible and said he faces a charge of forcible obstruction of business, Fuji TV reported.
At 10:40 p.m. on Saturday, police received an emergency call stating that a man had “thrown a bicycle off a bridge onto the train tracks” near JR Otsuka Station. When police arrived at the scene, a black bicycle was found on the tracks on which the outbound service operates.
According to JR officials, a train driver along the inbound Yamanote line managed to temporarily halt the train and remove the bicycle from the tracks. There was no collision between the train and bike, and no passenger injuries were reported.
Due to this incident, JR suspended Yamanote line services for 11 minutes.

I was once on the Hachiko line when the train hit a concrete block someone left on the track. We hit it BAM!, then the driver stopped the train, got out, and picked up the pieces. He tried to hide them from view. Later at Hachioji station, some plainclothes staff took the pieces from him.
