A 17-year-old youth allegedly slashed the throat of the 14-year-old boy sitting next to him in front of eyewitnesses on a JR Minobu line train in Showa, Yamanashi Prefecture on Thursday, police said.

According to police, a man approached station guards at Joei Station just after 5:15 p.m. and said, "A boy has had his throat cut." Police found the junior high school student had suffered a minor injury to his neck. Police arrested his assailant, a high school student, on charges of attempted murder based on the testimonies of witnesses who had been seated nearby.

While horrible, good thing he didn't have a gun!

Okay.....here we go. I want to know what video game this kid has been playing.

Yeah, the knife was a MUCH better thing to use than a gun! Apples and Oranges!

@Michael - Minor injury. Probably means just a flesh wound. There's no mention of a knife, and given the length that many Japanese schoolboys wear their fingernails this might just be a nasty scratch. Still the carotid arteries run quite close to the surface and it is possible that even with fingernails one might open the artery and kill someone.

He's not too bad only a scratch according to the blurp compiled from news reports , could've been an Italian neck tie ,

You might as well say "It's a good thing he didn't have a flamethrower/bazooka/insert weapon of choice!". That's not really the point here. Poor kid though, I wonder what made the older one so angry.

I heard Hitler was a big fan of GTA4. The Spartans would get pumped up on Street Fighter before battles. Jack the Ri pper reportedly left a copy of MW2 at the scene. Yes, that would explain it.

thank god/gods no NRA in Japan

If everyone on the train was packing, someone could have shot this kid before he attacked the other one. More guns = more safety.

Or maybe not.

Psyops.

Sure and if local law, etc don't back you up, etc guess who will fry for murder/etc? Pure testosterone talk for someone who is NOT informed about what they can do legally.

Before you ice someone make sure that the law supports your actions and that you can proof it if not .....

Having a gun don't give you the right to go against local laws, many people found themselves in the locker after they "defended" themselves.

Comon Yamanashi, we already have a minor Yakuza war going on, can't we all just calm down a little bit around here? But having lived in DC for most of my life, I can say that I have definitely seen worse on the DC metro
