Who wants to be constantly preached to or, told that half of humanity is “bad” for having certain genitals, or skin color?

Write your own NEW characters and stories, “Hollyweird”.

So Sad. - ”Rest in Peace” Norm Macdonald. Surprisingly, not even one line in the “Entertainment” news section on Sept 14 or 15 (JST).

No one was funnier in the last 20 years than Norm Macdonald on late-night comedy," …

Oliver said in accepting the Emmy for best variety talk show, suggesting people spend time checking out clips of Macdonald, as he did after Macdonald died Sept. 14 at age 61.

That’s presumedly afair’ metric @Strangerland 6:17pm, IF studios, like Disney, don’t continue to ‘skew the numbers’ to bilk their ‘stars’ (Johansson), lie to their shareholders (Solo lost money) and kowtow/appease(75%!) their Beijing financiers (Mulan): “With special thanks to the Xinjiang Provence government for their cooperation in the successful production of this film”.)

Today in Pete DavidsonNews!” - Who ??

Here’s examples of “International Box Office” as posited by one poster of measuring current Hollywood:

Veteran comedy “LEGEND” Norm Macdonald $546 million “as an actor”

vs.

perhaps “soon to fizzle out” Pete Davidson at only $1.7million.

(I know: “*Who’s that?**”. Perhaps *someone can explain the differences in “talent’; )

Sometimes two great performances happen. Any other year, Anya Taylor Joy gets an Emmy. I loved her in Queen's Gambit, yet I completely understood when Kate Winslet won.

Queen's Gambit ultimate win over Mare of Easttown turned the tables, and I was fine with that as well. Both are excellent mini series', but Queen's Gambit is a unique story and gets a well deserved Emmy.

Spitting Image was correct. Olivia Colman is everywhere. I'm worried that when I lift the toilet seat to do my business, she's going to appear out of the toilet pan.

Yes @zichi 1:49am “Hollywood” doesn’t have a monopoly on tv & film production but,

they do produce the majority. - And MOST is crap since oh, … let’s say, 2016?

To your point, if looked at by individual countries, the U.S. still dominates the U.K. in volume, now closely followed by ‘up & climbing’ China, having surpassed even India (Bollywood).

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

The term “Hollywood@zichi 1:49am has also included ‘joint’ productions with the U.K., Canada, Australia & New Zealand (the Bond films, StarWars, LOTR, to cite just a few).

Would you call this “Hollywood”?: - In recent years Disney has been ‘collaborating’[?] both financially and creatively[?] with China. (Call that “joint venture” whatever you want.)

Sadly, after their ‘changes in policy’ in late 2020 & 2021, Hong Kong will no longer be an ‘independent’ and ‘creative’ source of films.

*Games of Thrones** *as example *@lostrune2 3:24pm? **“Seems” even they, like Dani, “forgot*” MANY things. The majority of which were 9+ years or developed character arcs and plot lines.

*- @lostrune 3:34pm: “The Emmys… *many multi-season series win multiple years and thus well-remembered

*[responding to @starpunk 3:07am: “Who won the Emmys last night?…*

*… Next year nobody will even remember.” -*

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Even the Game of Thrones show runners and producers’ FULL names, [don’t look it up}, remember them?

Where are they now?

NOT working for Disney, StarWars or ANY other well-established IPO, that’s for sure.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Good for her! @zichi 5:21pm. MY point was ONLY about the GOT showrunners.

But since you brought HER up in that context:What was her Emmy for Game of Thrones?

or,

was THIS her First?

btw: I’ll let @starpunk contend with his own posts.

Hollywood streaming showing its mettle

Yet, @lostrune 5:50pm in previous years, it was studio execs’ ‘*meddling**ruining “Entertainment”. *

- @lostrune2 5:50pm: “Hollywood streaming showing its mettle.” -

In recent years, it’s ‘personal agendas’ & ‘unrelated, current politics’ being ‘forced’ onto classic characters & the absence of fresh, basic, good storytelling that have ruined “Entertainment”.

Nothing as tedious as the host - the Cedric guy. Worst host of any event in the history of mankind.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

In the history of Hollywood their product has never been less relevant than it is today.

Yes. And quit recycling all this tired Marvel Comics and other genres. You made Spider-Man into a teenage wimp. You turned all these superheros into ninnies. Stan Lee is rolling in his grave.

And quit this sequelitis crap too. 'Top Gun: Maverick' in November? First of all, nobody's military career lasts 35 years - let alone being a pilot. I guess that's what Tom Cruise falls onto since he's got a kid to feed courtesy of making a fool of himself with that star-chaser.

Who won the Emmys last night? Next year nobody will even remember.

Imagine being alive and not liking Ted Lasso. Couldn't be me.

Stan Lee created Spider-man to be a loser in high-school.

Understood @zichi 5:26pm but 2 ‘others’ you list here are California or West Coast USA-based, …

and using the same stable of producers, writers & ‘talent’ that are, essentially, also considered “Hollywood”.

*-@zichi 5:26pm: “the point I was making about Hollywood is there are others [??] *

now producing movies and TV series,

like Apple (California)

Amazon (Seattle, Washington)

HBO (NY based but “Hollywood” talent pool)

Netflix (California) .....”

Seth Rogen presented the first award, throwing some cold water on the celebratory vibe by noting that the Emmys were being held in a giant tent. “There’s way too many of us in this little room,” he exclaimed in what seemed to be an attempt to be funny that fell flat.

its ok to be that close because "everyone is vaccinated". the reason the joke "fell flat" is that it isnt funny and isnt a joke.

COVID doesnt make exemptions for the Emmys or even for vaccinated people. The attendees know this, but have to keep up the public facade that there is no risk at this event.
