Ryan Coogler made the right decision for the wrong reason. Georgia's voting laws have been falsely claimed to be more restrictive and harmful to minority voters. It is simply a falsehood propagated by liberals.

Explain how the voting law is harmful to anyone. (Be sure to include evidence - don't just rehash what is being reported.)

Coogler was "profoundly disappointed" but decided to educate himself before making a decision about filming the sequel there.

- "I understand many people employed by my film, including all the local vendors and businesses we engage, are the very same people who will bear the brunt of SB202,... For those reasons, I will not be engaging in a boycott of Georgia.” -

There are currently 47 similar “Enteratinment” projects in active production in Georgia. No others have stopped production.

Coke has seen a significant decline in sales and profits. Their politics are now evolving.

Correction: There are currently “57” similar, “Enteratinment” projects ‘in Active Production’ in Georgia. - Aside from Smith & Fuqua, No others have stopped production. -

In the absence of Smith and Fuqua, most notable & prominent BIPOC producer is Oprah Winfrey endorsed producer Ava DuVernay (“Selma”).

*- “Auditions and filming just ‘wrapped’ APR 10th in Decatur & Atlanta for Ava DuVernay’s(“Selma”) new CW series pilot “NAOMI”.  DuVernay is frequently outspoken about discrimination against BIPOC interests, yet didn’t speak out, this time, about the changes to the Georgia voting law requiring appropriate identification for ALL voters.” *

Along with Coogler, DuVernay has also ‘chosen ‘self-interest’ to continue making money’ in Georgia.

Haven’t read THAT @proxy 9:04am?. - Like @TTank 8:10am is asking, “What’s your basis/evidence/sales reports/etc” ‘accounting’ for this comment:

- “Coke has seen a significant decline in sales and profits. Their politics are now evolving.” -

Let’s remember: Current corporate ‘politics’ are selective and ‘virtue signaling’, ONLY when it’s convenient and keeps them in business.

Meh. Huge fuss about nothing. Like a movie or a ballgame is world changing

Coke has seen a significant decline in sales and profits. Their politics are now evolving.

Coke's sales and profits have been falling for well over a year. This is due not to a decision taken last month, but due to the pandemic. The rise in people buying Coke for consumption at home has not matched the fall in sales at bars and restaurants:

Please act like Coogler, and educate yourself.

Wait, is he cancelling the cancelling of Georgia?

2 ( +8 / -6 )

Here is a story about Coke NOT signing the statement from other companies on the Georgia law last week:

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/walmart-delta-coca-cola-refused-145232388.html

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Coca-Cola needed to step away from that precipice after their fiasco with their HR lady training people to be "less white". The last thing they needed was to trend further to the left.

Perhaps she meant less white supremacist?

That's a good thing. As is a trend to the left - or as some on the right would see it - a trend towards center right.

Anyway, this is a conundrum. Georgia has a lot of fine film and televisions coming out of it, which does create jobs. But voter supression is serious business.

Which is more urgent - jobs or voting rights? Why not both?

Another example of “Entertainment” continuing production in Georgia is:

‘“Apr 3, ‘21 - Donald Glover resumed filming His long-awaited “Atlanta”, BOTH seasons 3 AND 4.” -

Along with Coogler, Glover will NOT stop production on BOTH Seasons 3 and 4 that are currently underway. Another example of ‘selective self- interest’ and profit superseding virtue-signaled ‘solidarity and opposition’.

Unlike Smith and Fuqua having production and financial ‘clout’ in “Entertainment” to ‘choose when, what & where they work.  The ‘up & comers’ like Glover will continue to ‘play to get paid’ and to ‘keep the work’ they get.

(From 12:58 pm JST.)

You still haven’t substantiated your claims @proxy 11:25am, of Coke’s “decline in sales & profits” as you alleged @9:04am.

Respectfully, we took the time to read Your linked “Yahoo.finance” article but it doesn’t mention ANY decline.

Plus, you failed to mention other companies, from Your article, that also are not joining the boycott. The ONLY “decline” mentioned was “declining the joint statement”:

“...Wed’s letter, including Georgia-based Coca-Cola, Delta, and Home Depot, as well as Walmart & JPMorgan Chase”-

In Your posting here @11:14am, You also may have overlooked Yahoo.ca’s attached business “Insider” article: “Read more: “Corporate America's response to Georgia's new voting laws isn't benevolence. It's about economics and profit, experts say.”-

At least @LazarusKnows @10:16am made an effort and refuted Your ‘false claims’ with a substantiated article for the “true causes” of any sales drop: “Coca-Cola sales drop as pandemic restrictions hit bars and restaurants”.

How does it go? “Oooh that’s a tricky one. Hollywood resisting cancel culture. I’m sure it must mean something significant”

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

So, six people who think the new voting law is somehow unfair - but don't have any reason for that opinion.

-3 ( +3 / -6 )

Doesn’t seem they want to engage you in debate @ThomasTank 7:35p. Surprising, considering this same issue 5 days ago attracted many comments and heated arguments (98 posts edited down to the 48) before it was abruptly ‘closed from further discussion’.

MayBe you both got cancelled.

Kind of funny to change laws based on 35 potential cases when the party owns the state. This after a recount. Kind of looks like secure, fair, and balanced elections are a secondary goal to something else. Unless I'm mistaken somehow.

Anyway, this is a conundrum. Georgia has a lot of fine film and televisions coming out of it, which does create jobs. But voter supression is serious business.

There is no voter suppression unless if you don't have an ID which should make perfect sense, regardless of color, religion, or ethnic origin, you need to have an ID and if you don't, then you shouldn't be granted anything.

Which is more urgent - jobs or voting rights? Why not both?

Definitely both.

Everything is becoming Political.

So stopping another Political Party handing out branded water bottles and sandwiches to people queuing up to vote ... is allowed ?

Everyone can twist and turn whatever changes are being made, to support their own view.... this is just Modern day life... you have to deal with it and recognise the Spin.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It would be better if he filmed it in Wakanda.

2 ( +2 / -0 )

Smart move by the film maker. The wealthy who run Major League Baseball and wealthy players union moved the all star game to Denver, much more white than Atlanta and ended up hurting Atlanta’s poor and middle class citizens economically in the process.

There are other ways to engage. Good for Coogler.

-1 ( +0 / -1 )

Nice bit of trolling @Bob Fosse 9:51pm:

“*MayBe you both got cancel*led.” -

Yet, You didn’t weigh in on the discussion.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Keep hard-working people employed and let the consumers do the boycotting IF they don’t agree with a corporation’s policies regarding politics.

For those of you that don’t support the decision by Disney to continue their film production in Georgia, are you also suggesting a boycott ALL these shows and their employing of Georgians as actors and staff, as well?

Perhaps she meant less white supremacist?

No, she meant less white.

Also, I don't hear these same people discussing other supremacy movements.

But like everything with the far left, the underlying baseline assumptions that they form their worldview around are wrong. In this case it's "whiteness is a concept, only white people can be racist because power + privilege = racism".

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Also, I don't hear these same people discussing other supremacy movements.

Because they're not a threat to our way of life.

Because they're not a threat to our way of life.

What is your way of life and how is it under threat? Education is the first step to change!
