Many consider the original show to be the best show ever. The prequel has shown itself to be another quality story. I have no doubt the movie will be of similar quality storytelling.

I’m not understanding what the problem is with digging deeper into a story to further develop it.

We don't know for sure that he died at the end.

The problem is that it makes no sense because the entire story of Walter White as regular guy turned criminal mastermind has been told from start to finish. There is nowhere to go with it. I mean, what story are they going to tell us? That of his son or wife or baby daughter taking over the business some years after his death or something?

Better Call Saul is a fantastic spin off show, but its not a prequel to Breaking Bad and tells a story that is completely irrelevant to the Breaking Bad storyline (despite obviously existing in the same fictional world with some of the same characters).

Also I have to point out that a 2 hour movie seems like a horrible medium for the type of storytelling that made both shows so great. Both shows featured very long story arcs that would play out over multiple seasons (took them three years to resolve Jimmy's emotional conflict with his brother, kept us in suspense for the entire 5 seasons of Breaking Bad about when Walter's DEA brother in law would finally put two and two together about him, etc). Trying to cram something similar into a self contained 2 hour slot just doesn't seem like a winning idea to me, though I could be proven wrong.

Not sure whether I embrace this or not. BB and BCS are two of the finest shows, both showing the descent of their main characters. Walter from mild-mannered teacher to drug lord and Jimmy from the corner-cutting loveable rogue to Saul, the no scruples dodgy lawyer who can be bought.

Depends on the script and if Gilligan can maintain the quality, I suppose.

Tried watching this a couple of times. I found it pretty high schoolish.

Well, the same story will work. As I see it, every episode goes like: Walter tries to save the situation and thing gets worse, every time! And you wonder how bad it can become. Perhaps the new movie can come up with a brilliant salvation for Walter only to see the further self-destruction.

I cannot wait.

Its clear Hollywood is dead. There's not enough money to take risky new cool ideas like they did in the 80s. Has there been anything original in the theater in the past 10 years?

Has there been anything original in the theater in the past 10 years?

Yes, but people don't go to see 'em, so they don't make more of 'em

Let's take, say, 2015 for an example. Here is a list of all the theatrical released Hollywood films in 2015 that were not an adaptation, sequel, remake, or reboot:

The Wedding Ringer. Blackhat. The Boy Next Door. Black Sea. Strange Magic. Mortdecai. Project Almanac. Black and White. Jupiter Ascending. McFarland, USA. The Lazarus Effect. Focus. Unfinished Business. Chappie. Home. Get Hard. Ex Machina. Unfriended. Little Boy. The Age of Adaline. Hot Pursuit. Tomorrowland. Aloha. San Andres 3D. Spy. Inside Out. Dope. Max. Self/Less. The Gallows. Trainwreck. The Vatican Tapes. Southpaw. The Gift. Ricki and the Flash. Straight Outta Compton. Underdogs. American Ultra. No Escape. We Are Your Friends. The Visit. The Perfect Guy. Black Mass. Sicario. The Intern. Steve Jobs. Bridge of Spies. Crimson Peak. The Last Witch Hunter. Burnt. Our Brand is Crisis. Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse. The 33. The Night Before. Spotlight. The Good Dinosaur. Krampus. Sisters. Joy. Concussion. Daddy’s Home. The Hatful Eight.

That is 62 original movies in total.

Now let us compare how many film based off other properties were released nationwide. In total there were 23 sequels, 28 adaptations, 3 remakes, and 4 reboots. In total, that adds up to 58 films.

So, it turns out that there were more original films released that year than all the sequels, adaptations, remakes and reboots combined.

Thus, the real question is: how many of those original movies have ya guys gone out and see?

If ya guys don't go out and see 'em, they ain't gonna make more of 'em. And ya guys then can't complain about it
