To understand the context & drama of the ‘Battle of the Bastards’ (season 6, episode 9) @rcch 8:04am, you may have to make a greater commitment to all of the earlier seasons.
Agree with most here, the first seasons and twists are part of the build up of the entire series. However, once the hack writers/show runners ran out of the author’s source material,
they began ‘workarounds’ on some of the many subplots, etc.
Recommend you enjoy the first season and then, let us all know IF you have decided to proceed. Would enjoy reading a review from an unjaded, first-time viewer. Best wishes.

Game of Thrones *
sorry

Thank you!
I’ll watch the first two seasons and see how things go from there. I’ll pay attention to that Battle of the Bastards episode ( what a title ). I read the reviews calling it “ a masterpiece “ and “ one of the best television episodes of all time “. They said the same thing about Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias and I wasn’t disappointed.
I hope I’ll be finished with Games of Thrones before August 21. Also... The Rings of Power... can’t wait. : )

People need to just chill. the problem is, too many people go into sequels or in this case "prequels" with preconceived notions and expect them to be either as good as the original or bad, just take the show for what it is and try not to make equivalent comparisons. Just take the show for what it is, an original (in this case) does that and you can watch the new series and perhaps even enjoy it and judge it by its own merits instead of putting all criticism aside first.

Yet you watched it.

Yawn, such an Overated series. Pathetically slow and dull.

The first few seasons were good. I'd say it's watchable up to maybe Season 5, though that's pushing it a bit (though The Battle of the Bastards in Season 6 is a stellar episode). After that though, it was more just watching because I'd already invested in it.

The first two series were very good, the third so-so and after that the rot set in. By the end it was a parody of itself. I have no interest in dungeons and dragons stuff so I avoided watching it for years but was surprised at how good the first few series were.
One of the better Doctors, nice to see him back again.

I still didn’t watch Game of Thrones.
All I hear is people saying how much they hate the last season so I hope I’m not gonna waste my time ...
what do you guys think ... is it still worth it ...

Hey!
Good to see that some agree. Usually I get labeled a misogynist or racist for speaking out against the 'woke' movement. Not against diversity in film at all. Just write an original, compelling story with interesting, realistic characters be they men or women. Many of today's screenwriters and showrunners have no idea how to do this. Which results in a bunch of mediocre to poor TV series and films. And leave the classics alone.

Hail!, @MileTeg 5:12pm. ‘Dumb & Dumber’ were given a sail but no rudder. And your take on LOTR:TROP sounds 100% on point with the FNT ‘fellowship’. Best to ya!

Martin is essentially unable to finish the book series. He hasn't finished book 6 Winds of Winter and hasn't even started book 7 a Dream of Spring the end book of GoT. Which is one reason why season 8 of GoT wasn't very good; they had no actual references or narrative from Martin cause he's not able to finish the series so it was left to Benioff and Weiss, who aren't literary writers, to write the end. Martin is so involved in everything else GoT including the prequel House of Dragons that he'll most likely never finish the book series. Prequels, prequels, prequels but we'll never get an ending. Many think that he's creatively incapable of writing the ending.
Amazon's miserable 'woke' take on LOTR is a joke. The Hollywood social justice warriors insist that all things politically correct be clumsily force-fed into every story even at the expense of changing the original lore written by Tolkien. They are incapable of writing a decent story themselves so instead take other people's works and bastardize them in the name of 'diversity'!! Black elves, dwarf women with no beards, Galadriel as a fierce warrior, etc, etc. Same is happening with Marvel and the M-SHE-U and happened with Disney's disastrous Star Wars trilogy.

I tried reading this book "Fire and Blood". It is so dry though; it's like a (fake) history book...

Let’s keep our spirits up until then.

GOT House of the Dragon is going to be totally eclipsed by the Lord of the Rings tv show that will begin airing on Amazon this September.

Very well put.
Clear and comprehensive.

“What has been seen, cannot be unseen” SF author C.A. Woolf. - Save the memory ****@zichi 10:31am, both on your device and in your mind. For you and others at that point, the story could end with the last episode of Season 7:
Winter came … and “Ice” won. (fade to black)

Echoing all the posters above: I want the Season 8 I was promised, not that steaming pile of hot garbage that was dumped on my television steps.
As for the book, I've given up. GRRM is never going to finish it at this point.
I honestly can't believe a spin-off...or well, prequel in this case, to GoT has been made after the atrocity that was Season 8. Yes, I'm still sore about it.
snowymountainhell
Wait, Wait! Before you start, Can George Just Finish ?
(At this point, … extremely doubtful.
In GRRM’s own words, “Valar morghulis”.
Rest In Peace, A Song of Ice and Fire.

Wait, wait. Before you start a new series, HBO, you gotta go make a proper Season 8 for everybody
And a book too.
