'Leave It to Beaver' co-star Tony Dow dies at 77

RIP Mr Dow. MSM earlier today announced his passing prematurely resulting in terrible distress for his wife. I hope JT has checked all sources.

A friend in Los Angeles talked to his wife, who said he is actually alive in hospice care at home, and she was so distressed by calls asking to confirm his death that she gave the wrong answer.

1950’s tv was… meh. The Lucy shows were kind of funny because of the rampant smoking but they still had to sleep in separate beds but still were a cultural icon. Leave it to Beaver was, again, meh. The Flintstones were the first series to depict a married couple sleeping in the same bed together.

Ward wore suits and his wife wore dresses at home. Plot for kids: let’s go crush some tin cans; let’s check out the skunk that got into so and so’s garage. Wally was bland. Eddie the sidekick. Beaver annoying. Narrated opening.

What are you talking about? Anyway, the man did a lot of other TV shows and was just a funny guy especially back on the classic “Leave it to beaver” show.

He’ll definitely be missed. Rest In Peace Mr. Dow, classy until the end.

Eddie, the character, has the highest EQ. The way he deftly came up with the solution in the episode "Eddie's Girl" while considering more than five people's situation showed his faculty.

Loved this show as a kid. Used to be my favorite. Wished I was a part of that family. It summed up the ethos of the 50s.

Um, He did a lot of dinner theater in KC as an adult. If you read any of his widely available Obits, it is one of the places where his mid-80s revival started. And......

If that were true, then Hollywood and the American actors many actors from foreign countries I go to Hollywood wouldn’t be as filthy Rich as they are.

Even when I visit and stay in America I never watch TV. The ads and breaks are just too much.

Someone has to pay for it and no one likes it, no one, this is a reason why people are switched to streaming.

I'm too young to have watched the original Leave it to Beaver during its initial run, but as a kid in the 1980s I do have fond memories of watching him in the re-boot "New" Leave it to Beaver, and also watching re-runs of the original. They were nice shows and I'm sad to hear of his passing.

Unfunny and uncreative ads with talking heads. I'll take the rock band Talking Heads over those 'heads' anyday.

Was also very good friends of Epstein/maxwell. Was involved with “save the ocean” which Maxwell was heavily involved. Even spend holidays on Pedo Inland.

Younger ones as well through reruns and of course older ones do, but this was an American themed show made for American audiences, so it’s not unusual that the rest of the world hasn’t watched the show.

American TV is quite popular outside the US. I know Beaver because we were given homework assignments to watch American TV shows. The American teacher would show this and Gidget because they were clean shows when we wanted to watch Friends. The English teacher made us watch Jane Eyre and BBC versions of Jane Austen novels. The Japanese teacher used Tokyo Love Story which was better.
