I've never seen Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones and I never intend to as I am not prey to the shallow culture that you exist in.

Only kidding, I've seen 'em all. Can't wait for this.

which I did from being to end everyday for about two weeks.

Obviously a typo, but I like the idea that you started reading the book the moment you were born.

but less critically acclaimed three-parter "The Hobbit",

That's because it was a freaking disaster.

I have no idea how they will build upon The Lord of the Rings and come out with a viable TV show. Like The Walking Dead avoids the word "zombie" like the plague, I think they better avoid all mention of Gandalf or any other big characters, for a while at least, and focus on events in some corner of Middle Earth....perhaps at a time between the Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings stories. Frankly I am not confident anyone can do what they plan, but I am hopeful.

I always thought LOTR was underserved by the movies, though I enjoyed them. A TV series will give them the time they need to tell the story properly.

I'm really happy to hear that they are starting to shoot the TV show soon and wish that  Peter Jackson's would work on some of the Episodes because without him i think this show will not be as successful as the movies.

Can't wait for the first season to come out i'm sure it's going to be amazing.

What's left to learn that we haven't already learned in a handful of the same movies?

The Valar, Finwe, Feanor, Fingolfin, Luthien, Beren, Ungoliant, Melkor, the Silmarils, Gondolin, Arnor, Angband, the Two Trees, Numenor, Glaurung, Hurin .....Turin you could make a full trilogy about. Trust me...if all you know is the movies, you know next to nothing.
