They could replace the actors with a white actor and have a "magical honkey".

But they'd probably complain about not having enough roles.

Well, I think I'll start a campaign complaining why there are very few whites at the rap music awards.

Wow this article was stupid. First, it is an old trope, and one not as much in practice these days. Second, in no way was Lawrence Fishburns character in "Passengers" a magical negro. What was the author smoking? He was very far from a selfless magical character out for nothing else than to help the protagonist. His primary purpose in that film was to save the ship and therefore all of the passengers under his charge as an officer on said vessel. As for several other examples, such as "Shawshank Redemption", "Bruce Almighty" (are you kidding? He was GOD in that film, but please tell me how casting an African American actor as God was racist), and of course, "The Dark Knight Trilogy", these parts were certainly the opposite of what the author asserts. In several of these roles, the simple fact is that they could have been played by anybody and it would not have changed anything, except for people complaining about how racist it was for not having any African American Protagonists.
Why was this even relevant to write about at the moment? There was quite literally no point to this article, it established nothing, gave absolutely nothing that could be considered news, not really, and in the end just takes up headline space. Slow day maybe?

How was Lucius Fox included in this?!? He was an important character in his own right and stood up to Batman at the end of the second movie when he made his feelings clear about the way technology was being misused.
Same for Shawshank - Red didn't solely exist to support Andy at all.
I get racism and typecasting is still an issue in Hollywood, but this just feels like playing victim in situations where a black actor has actually been given chances :-/

The race-bating the Media won't stop.

Come to think of it, I don't seem to be aware of any movies staring a black protagonist with his/her white advisor or guide angel whatever. Interesting..

Good picture of Samuel Jackson.

At least black actors get roles. How many Asians get leading roles?

Memories of childhood taunts. :-)
But America does seem to go out of its way to entrench racial identity. Most school districts classify students by race. It can be depressing.
Morgan Freeman? I thought it was Tom Jones. (Morgan, Jones. Those Welsh all look alike.)

Nerakai - would never happen. The filmmakers would face a storm of criticism for showing a white person mentoring a black person. That would be seen as racist.
You just can't win in today's climate of perpetually outraged SJWs

I'd rather 8 Mile to Dangerous Minds, all the same.
The recent Stallone film Creed is critically acclaimed. Have you seen that yet? Do you think people were outraged by that?

I've never heard of this until written in the press recently, and it still doesn't make sense. It just seems a load of codswallop to me. Actors are actors, and their performances should be equally rated - which appears to be done (particularly well, across the internet), and this is done so without consideration to Color, Religion, or Background - but simply whether they performed the role.
IMDB.COM is a good start to see this. So, if I am completely wrong, please do tell me why (with examples) ?
