Not without the invaluable knowledge of Grand Maester Samwell Tarly.

“Naturally, it's a small group of Americans that must save the world.” - Unless, of course, it’s being marketed for China.

Michael Bay is to action films what Roland Emmerich is to disaster films: both providers mindless (yet sometimes-amusing) ‘popcorn-cinema’ schlock. One step up from the SyFy Channel’s home computer special effects & bad acting. Well, still with the bad acting.

Don't forget the cliched lovey-dovey. In 'Independence Day' Will Smith married his GF, a stripper before taking on those aliens.
And how about an alcoholic war veteran who 'redeems' himself by his ultimate sacrifice in the struggle, getting killed and then the American public appreciates his heroism?
You remember that the crap 'Armageddon' game out hot on the heels of two brilliant comets in real life - Comet Hyakutake in 1996 (very spectacular and a surprise for all concerned) and that was topped by the Comet Hale-Bopp of 1996-1997. Both comets were extremely brilliant, visible even in light-polluted skies of downtowns in every city in the world.
And in 2020 the orbiting robot telescope NEOWISE (an acronym name) discovered a comet that bears that name. It too was brilliant, not as good as the above listed but the best one since then. It got some good attention, a reprieve from all the turmoil and craziness of that ugly year.
Coincidence? Hollyweird is making some 'old hat' garbage again.

The same pathetic theme as always..
Hollywood brainwashing a country that believes itself "invincible"..
