I am truly saddened by the "Queen's" death. May she rest in peace after bringing so much happiness to millions during her life .

Wow. What is it about this day ? The King of Rock, Elvis, blues pioneer Robert Johnson, of course Babe Ruth (Sultan) and now Aretha....so three kings and a Queen. RIP.

A great American artist has left the world a poorer, sadder place.

Goodbye and thank you, Aretha Franklin.

Fox News showed a picture of Patti LaBelle while they discussed her passing on TV. :(

Nobody could do "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" like Aretha did. Celine Dion ruined that song beyond belief in 1996 and when I went to a cantina and heard the Aretha original it was not only better, but soulful.

I don't think it needs to be said that while nobody can replace Aretha, Adele is a loyal disciple to her and she will carry the torch.

RIP ARETHA FRANKLIN, ride the Freedom of Love in a pink Cadillac, drop the pedal and GO! GO! GO! to Rock'n'roll Heaven.  Elvis Presley was always listening to soul records and studying them to make his singing more soulful.  He checked into  Rock'n'roll Heaven 41 years today so say hello to him and sing with him and all the others. You will be sorely missed.

The world has lost another great icon of the music world, what a sad day, over her time in the music business she has sung with so many talented artists, its going to take a brave person to step into her shoes. I am sure the radio station's will be player her records/cds over the next few weeks, I am sure that all of you out there will have a favourite tune of hers, who hasn't? I will be singing along as well ( badly) to.

She had a helluva voice. Trump should listen to and learn from her song R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

I see FOX has, thinking all black people are the same, no only screwed up with the pictures in their "tribute" to the woman, but also screwed up in their "apology". She just can't get no respect.

Beautiful voice, beautiful soul. For once, let's drop the politics (previous post), and just appreciate true talent.

My favourite memory of Aretha is of her singing 'Think' in The Blues Brothers,

Again, he ain't got respect for nothing. And he doesn't deserve any himself. I'm a Generation Xer but I know 'RESPECT' is a woman's/feminist anthem in the first place, and he SURE ain't into that! No way, Jose.

I remember her singing it in the 'Blues Bros.' too but I grew up with 'Jump To It' and the great 'Who's Zoomin' Who?' album as well. It has a lot of great stuff on it that showed that she was in tune with the 80s. She hit the top with the late George Michael in 1987. Aretha never was 'yesterday's news', and her legacy - like that of David Bowie and Prince spans generations. IOW, TIMELESS. I do believe that Adele is carrying her torch right now - she's really good and she has a good future ahead as well as long as she's with people who can honestly channel her talents.

Aretha set a template for women musicians. She just went by her vocal (and keyboard instruments) talent, not by shakey-shakey-the-butt dancing, not by sex appeal, not by any kind of image - ABILITY. Female musicians need to look at her some more and take a good look. Even with video (and Aretha certainly embraced that medium, too) she knew that without the musical ability it's zero. Her musical talent made her a powerhouse no matter what. That's what counts. She didn't get the title 'Queen of Soul' for nothing, you know. May she ride the Freeway of Love in her pink Cadillac into Rock'n'roll Heaven.

In my hometown they already are - not to intensity of Prince (where ALL radio stations, regardless of format played Prince exclusively for the rest of the week) but it's happening. Just like they did when Bowie went to Mars with Blue Jean in January 2016. Man, this is one SAD weekend.
