He was handed the gun, told it was safe. He is an actor not a professional gun expert. It’s not like he loaded it.

Sad, these frail egos of narcissists, like Baldwin, who often backpedal, deflect and gaslight issues rather than just taking the mature, personal responsibility for their previous words and erroneous actions.

Some even claimed in the subsequent days when this story first broke that Baldwin is not guilty of even ‘manslaughter’ and continue to still believe Bladwin was not at fault in any way.

May justice be duly served to honor the deceased and give her surviving family the chance to begin healing from her tragic death.

He's a producer of the film. That's responsibility itself.

Furthermore, he's an experienced actor. It boggles my mind how it could OK on set to have a gun pointed at another person, no matter the circumstance. The camera could be on a stand with the photographer out of the line of fire. If a gun needs to be pointed at another actor, use a fake prop. If you need to fire at an actor, use a cut scene.

Also, why does every movie need to be filled with guns? Can't we make movies about other things?

He was not only an actor but also the producer, which means it is part of his responsibility to make sure a good job is being done about safety in the film, which according to multiple incidents he was not doing properly.

Regarding the present topic of the producers’ civil lability for negligence and failure to exercise due care with any type of firearm on a set, seems rather insincere that some still believe Baldwin was not at fault in ANY way.

*- “Last week, Matt Hutchins filed a lawsuit against Baldwin and other "Rust" producers claiming "substantial" damages for his wife's wrongful death, alleged that "reckless conduct and cost-cutting measures" had led to her death.” -*

As stated in the article above, the criminal case is ongoing and up to police and prosecutors. Impromptu, informal polls and attempts at trials on social media and Internet forums are futile.

Why continue such frivolous charades and showboating when it’s children who have lost their mother? The husband and father would like this civil matter resolved in a timely manner so her surviving family can piece their lives back together and move on.

“A criminal investigation is also ongoing. Investigators have not filed criminal charges over the tragedy, but have refused to rule them out against anyone involved, including Baldwin.” -

The legal burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt applies only to criminal cases. This is not a criminal case but a civil case. It is entirely reasonable to claim that Baldwin bears some amount of responsibility for a death caused by a firearm he physically fired in a production for which he was a producer.

"At least in America, and many other countries too, people are innocent until proven guilty (in a court of law) beyond a reasonable doubt."

This is true. And it should be applied to EVERYONE EQUALLY. (add any name to this, including individuals you personally detest).

George Zimmerman, Kyle Rittenhouse, Donald J Trump, to enumerate just a few.

The fruitless assertions continue? - No one here was present at the tragic event and can’t even make up ‘facts’ even if they wanted to pretend to.

On point, in CIVIL matters in American courts, as is the sole topic of THIS story, ONLY a preponderance of evidence is necessary for a plaintiff to prevail over a defendant.

This civil suit like most others will be settled out of court.

and like most civil cases, it’s all about the money

I feel that someone is responsible for what happened and I can't say who that is. But I know it's not me," said Baldwin.

First rule of gun safety: Every gun is always loaded.

thetruthaboutguns.com goes on to explain "Safety demands that you treat all firearms as loaded — at least until you personally and accurately verify that a gun is unloaded. Always safety check a firearm before and after handling. Even then, you should continue to treat it as a loaded gun...If someone hands you a gun, make sure it’s clear. If someone says “it’s unloaded” treat the statement as utterly meaningless. It’s not unloaded until you’ve checked it yourself.

not only did Baldwin have responsibility for handling that particular gun, but as a producer on the film he should have ensured that everyone in the production had been taught basic gun safety, including himself.

Is mine. the quoted advice ends at "It's not unloaded until you've checked it yourself."

Baldwin recklessly disregarded the most basic firearms safety rules, and as a terrible result Halyna Hutchins is DEAD.

Baldwin can deflect all he wants, but he and he alone is responsible for her DEATH. Whether that incident rises to the criminal level is a matter for the appropriate authorities. But there is no escaping the fact that he is responsible for the death of this person.

The presumption of innocence is in the legal process. I do believe that it was accidental, but like a driver of a vehicle that inadvertently strikes a person resulting in that person's death, he was responsible.

I totally agree. As a producer, he may be liable. As an actor, I think not. No way actors are the last line of defense, in terms of liability. Why hire gun experts if you expect silly actors to take the risk.

it just went off, well, has that gun been tested in a lab, or sent back to colt for examination???
