Yup, it's that time again,

Every time we have a war in Palestine the Old war Stories resurface and old reruns return to the good old theaters and TV's . Schindlers List in next in line.

Nowt to do with a war in Palestine. It’s the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

*I for one wish I could see it again on the Big Screen. It was unbelievable the first time around.

Yeah I'm sure it has absolutely nothing to do with the 80th anniversary of D-Day next week.

Our Dad was there. He was invited to go back for the 50 year anniversary of D-Day, all expenses paid, if he would agree to be part of the official delegation from the country he was part of back then. He declined. He told me that he wanted to forget, not remember. Sometimes after the war he would just sit down and cry. I did not think any less of him for it. He did what he thought was right, he fought against fascism, and he survived. I still have his medals displayed. I still can't fathom how we ended up with a pro-fascist presidential candidate.

Dad helped the Brits with the Battle of El Alamein, as well. He was injured, and unable to get treated until after the war. Americans got medical treatment and disability payments, but Dad had to pay for his own medical care, and never got any disability payments. Still, he was one of the lucky ones. Most of the friends he started the war with did not survive.

My dad was there, landed at Juno beach June 7 1944. I returned there with him to the anniversaries until he became blind. The local people including the children had great respect for the veterans who returned.
