"Slayers" fans, mark your calendars for March 29th, 2020!

To commemorate 30 years since the original light novel series (written by Hajime Kanzaka and illustrated by Rui Araizumi) was published by Fujimi Fantasia Bunko in January 1990, Kadokawa is planning a whole series of events in 2020, beginning with a grand celebration at Tokyo City Dome Hall.

As many anime fans surely know, the sword-and-sorcery comedy adventure became one of the most popular series of the 1990s, and has been adapted into several manga titles, role-playing video games, and other media, not to mention additional TV anime adaptations in 2008 and 2009, several OVAs and feature-length films. As a result, it has gained a loyal fan-base around the world.

More details will emerge in the months to come, but here is what we know about this first ever independent event for the "Slayers" series:

Details

The event is officially called 『スレイヤーズ30周年記念イベント ~集まってくんないと暴れちゃうぞ!~』Slayers sanjushunen kinen event: atsumatte kunnai to abarechau zo! (Slayers 30th Year Commemorative Event: If you don't show up, I'll go on a rampage!), and will feature an all-star cast including the legendary Megumi Hayashibara (the voice of Lina Inverse), Yasunori Matsumoto (the voice of Gourry Gabriev), Maria Kawamura (the voice of Naga the Serpent) and many more.

Was a huge Megumi Hayashibara fan in the 90s. Still have a lot of her CDs somewhere.

Ah, Slayers, it brings back memories for me. They used to show it on the now dead International channel and I always enjoyed watching it. I never did see the new series, was worried it was just a cash grab and would only negatively impact my memories.
