'Tony' Yasumura reveals all about his not-naked shtick and its origins in Japanese comedy

Seems the only way for Japanese to be funny abroad is being debu and (almost) naked.

Obviously "Tony" is harmless, concerning, is what state of mind do I have to be in to find him amusing.

One day I will need to call the crazy coach, laughing hysterically manically as "tony" comes into view.

Like the vast majority of modern Japanese comedians this guy has 1 joke. It was funny for a bit about 5-10 years ago. I guess enough people forgot about it for it to be kind of funny again now.

Just reminds me that Ken Shimura really was something special. His style of comedy wasnt so different from the like of Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse. He was a genuinely funny bloke. RIP

It's very sad that comedy is essentially dead thanks to the perpetually offended "liberal" folk.

At least his schtick (can we actually use Yiddish terms without offending someone?) is mildly amusing.

Yasumura has been doing his trademark act for nearly a decade on TV shows and comedy houses around Japan.

Amen! The latter is so utterly UNfunny that it is unbearable to watch, and I know more than one Japanese who has cringed when the guys 'work' is seen outside of Japan (like on YouTube). The only reason I'd put Yasumura above such talentless hacks is that he is just having fun, and doesn't seem like he has created his schtick for the sole purpose of becoming famous for a heartbeat.

Still, treating it like it's the world's next big thing and Japanese here falling all over themselves to adopt the fad is a bit much.
