Donner deserves, at least, a posthumous, “Lifetime Achievement” Oscar for his remarkable visions brought to the screen.

Richard Donner’s kindness and generosity outside and away from Hollywood was equally renowned. He genuinely cared about other people and causes but never used them to advance himself.

'Superman' thrilled me when I was just 12 years old and it's still the best of that franchise. 'Lethal Weapon 2' is one of my favorites, it gives mer great memories of a great time in my life and it has that silly/fun song 'Cheer Down' (what does that mean?) by George Harrison. Not every film he directed was even good but his plusses far outweighed the duds. RIP Richard Donner and thank you.

Thanks again @starpunk 1:03pm for another trip down rock’n’roll ‘memory lane’ with George Harrison’s contribution to Lethal Weapon 2’s soundtrack “Cheer Down”.

We think the story is that “Cheer down” was something George’s wife Olivia would say when he would get overly enthusiastic about something. George would get going on about something and she would say something like, “*OK, cheer down big fella*.” George decided to use it as a song title.

(Now, we’re missing George and all the other Traveling Wilburys.)

RIP all your Great entertainers!

Big GH fan here.

Met him once. Talked to him. He replied. Long lasting memory.

Thank you sir for my many childhood memories. You brought a comic book hero to the big screen, revolutionized the buddy-cop genre, and made as genuinely fear a little kid. I can quote The Goonies word for word. Rest in peace and thank you !

Bob Dylan and Jeff Lynne are the only Wilburys still alive. I saw (Jeff Lynne's) ELO live in July 2019 and they played 'Handle With Care' early in the set. The video screens showed the Wilburys and Jeff and opening act Dhani Harrison (George's son) dueted on that song.

Commodore Perry Met him once. Talked to him. He replied. Long lasting memory.

I'm sure it is. You got lucky. Anyway, Richard Donner may not be a household name but he took the right path by directing instead of acting. And we're all the better for because his films entertained us and enriched our lives. So RIP Richard Donner and Thank You.
