This article fails to address the reason this flick bombed. Which is fairly obvious to anyone who's been even remotely paying attention. In the words of the immortal Nelson Muntz: Haw haw.

From that screenshot above, I think I know why. Marvel sucks.

33rd installment of Marvel CU. Maybe, just maybe, it's time for film makers to move on from super hero movies.

I agree, Unfortunately they’ll do Rocky XXVI, Mission Impossible 27, etc.
Hollywood is a wasteland of suits.

Shame. It's actually the best Marvel movie for a long while. It's still a plague on cinema that should end but it doesn't deserve the hate it's getting.

It's just that all these superheroes are C-listers. Spiderman and Thor will draw a crowd regardless of quality but I don't think I'd even heard of Captain Marvel until these movies started coming out.

Too much over saturation. Non compelling stories. Generic characters. I can’t even make it through some of these on streaming. They just don’t grab me. And, I grew up on comic books in the ‘60s. I used to go to the movies every week until Covid.

Like I said on the other recent articles, rumors were out, they were correct, this flick is crap, woke & will lose a ton of $$$, so many idiots at disney etc etc
Sadly this woke crap is pervasive in many areas of the west, thank god I dont have to work back home its gone insane & its sad watching companies implementing HR policy hoping & praying it prevents lawsuits, what a damned mess!!

Wokeness == weakness

I’d love to catch this in theaters but I’m all in on home viewing these days. The last few movies I saw at the theater were filled with talkers, or coughers, and one guy who was live commentating to himself.
im good to wait a few weeks for my 4K home experience

Historic low! Lol

Reason is right there. Same story 33 times in a row.

A problem of too many Marvel movies or not, on its own, this movie looks crappy.
I can't even make it through the commercials for it on TV without becoming uninterested. No way I'm watching the entire movie.

People realized they like Barbie better

I shouldn't say I don't like watching Marvel movies because I liked Ironman and Batman (Yeah, I know DC). Anyways, the others don't appeal to me. Same formula all the time; big fight scene at the end, good vs evil, big special effects and a very simple story line. Nowadays when I want to watch a movie, I want to watch a movie that makes you think with real acting. Fight Club, Fargo, or Shawshank Redemption, Matrix etc. Even Joker made you scratch your head after. Its like, I understand what Hollywood is doing because it can't gamble on movies like it used to but sequel after sequel and reboot after reboot is getting lame.

They seem to be making movies that they want to make not movies that fans want to see and the financial results are evident. Super hero movies are generally super popular with men, especially young men. With characters who have decades of lore, people are expecting something big and they want to see powerful masculine characters in the mix.

Barbie is woke too

Eventually, we'll watch it. Movie theaters are just too much hassle.
Our home theater is great. THX sound, 120inch projector, snacks we like, and no problem drinking whatever we prefer. In the middle, we pause for a toilet break, if needed. Our couch is comfortable and great for cuddling, unlike theater seats.
There aren't any pesky previews or 15 minutes of captive advertising before the movie starts.
We do run a few years behind on movies. Tonight we'll catch Aquaman or the Suicide Squad, if we are in the mood for a super-someone movie.
I'm ok with strong female leads and don't really care about movie studio expectations for profit. That's their issue, not mine.
