Zero mention that it will only release here on the 28th of April. Freaking 3 weeks we have to wait. Is ridiculous that Nintendo hadn't try to get the film to be release here at the same time as other nations.

It takes time in Japan as it needs to be dubbed into Japanese for the audience here. It has already been released in countries that use English.

that’s a bogus excuse.

both Korea and Taiwan are usually released at a similar time as the USA.

Japan releases can take up to 6-12 months after initial releases. It’s ridiculous.

a lot of times, I feel the Japanese market wants to see if a movie becomes “popular” or “famous” before they even discuss releasing certain movies.

I know it’s dated, but when the movie “Ted” came out, I remember no one giving a damn in Japan about it. It became a hit in the states. Months went by and I actually went back to the states and bought a blu ray copy of it. It was already on discount.

As I returned to Japan, I watched it at a friends house and someone asked, how did you get this? It doesn’t even come to

theaters in Japan until next month!

that’s a bogus excuse.

Delays in releasing international movies to support the local ones is a well known thing happening in Japan. It is quite common for the summer blockbusters but can happen any time. By now the public is well aware of this.

But that whole rainbow road sequence. I can’t believe the went ‘woke’. I can’t even go outside on rainy days now in case the sun comes out. /s

It can’t be woke - it’s a box-office smash.

That would be defying the iron law ‘go woke, go broke’.

I believe this is a film for children, I shall certainly not watch it. Last one I went to was Top Gun 2 at Namba, was ok but incredibly cheesy, lol

woke

I didn't notice any race-swapped characters or references to contemporary American politics so if anything it's right-wing by virtue of liberals claiming anything non-political to be 'problematic'.

Lol it’s a video game movie. ‘Race swapped’ here makes a much sense as it did in the Amazon Tolkien show. I still chuckle thinking how mad people got over a black mermaid.

I'm glad Mario is still a male.

I'm glad Mario is still a male.

That's how the video game goes. I wouldn't have it any other way. You wouldn't want say Red Sonya to be a male, would you?

Wow, it seems like the Super Mario Bros Movie has truly become a super success story! With such impressive numbers both domestically and internationally, it's clear that audiences were eager to see this beloved video game franchise brought to life on the big screen. It's exciting to see how this film has broken records for both video game adaptations and animated films, cementing its place in cinema history.

I believe this is a film for children

And nostalgic parents and adults who grew up knowing the Mario Bros

Kids didn't put it at 96% Audience Rating on Metacritic

I'm glad Mario is still a male.

Princess Peach is no longer damsel-in-distress though

That went to Luigi
