The last three movies made more than a billion each. I think their investors were happy.

Agreed, @Rolf Anderson: …
… including the whole ‘fan-base’ that came along with their purchase from George Lucas. Not calling the article or someone’s retort ‘an untruth’ but routinely posting unjustified-claims of Disney!’s StarWars success & statistics or, trying to a create a positive ‘spin’ for what appears to be some corporate shilling after midnight is one way to sneak in some ‘alternative” ideas? So, a ‘retort’ to @12:37am and the above article is forthcoming. . .

‘Common knowledge’ is Hollywood over-inflates ‘box-office sales’ in relation to it’s ‘actual productions costs’. In Hollywood’s version of a “break-even” for investors, (and all the other ‘wheels that are greased’), there needs to be a 4:1 ratio of BOS to APC.
Sure, the 3 Disney SW sequels reported a combined $4 billion “box office” for its current (China) investors and to attract other potential, future investors.
Yet, the same 3 ‘Disney! StarWars’ films reported over $1 billion in production costs, and ’re-shoots’ to try to ‘fix’ their butchered narrative.
By the above 4:1 ratio, Disney may have, ‘barely’, broken-even for their investors.
