Imagine that; the "best" of Hollywood can take a long-popular Broadway musical and create a flop of a film, effectively making a sow's ear of a silk purse! I wonder which -ism they'll blame for their own ineptitude?

Cats was better than Rise of Skywalker.

Cats was better than Rise of Skywalker.

Really?

It has its flaws and there were missed opportunities, but overall I quite enjoyed RoS. It's probably the weakest of the new batch but that was down to the usually reliable JJ trying to pander to everyone at the same time.

Still great escapism. As for Cats, I haven't seen it in this incarnation, although I did sit through a performance many years back.

What did you like about it?

As I said before, I thought RoS was pandering to a vocal minority of fans (fandering?) who disliked The Last Jedi, which is easily one of the best Star Wars films. It's slow, predictable, boring, with a lacklustre script ("Somehow, Palpatine has returned" is the only explanation we get) and shoddy direction. It lacks any imagination and takes as few risks as possible. It's also an incomplete film: reveals on twitter and the Emperor's return being 'announced' on Fortnite prove this. The return of Palpatine undermines the conclusion of the original trilogy. It's bad.

Cats is an absolutely insane garbage fire. It's objectively a bad film but it's such weird, balls-to-the-wall nonsense that it's hard to dislike.

As I've said before: see with your friends and bring a beer or glass of wine, and you'll have a great time. Under no circumstances should you watch it alone or sober.
