Imagine caring so much about a Disney fairy tale movie you publicly complain about its cast. What a bunch of whiny babies.

I just shake my head when adults make these kinds of comments. What's the point? To strongarm people into being silent with their opinions unless they align with yours?
Negative Nancy
There was absolutely no public interest in this movie from the beginning. The original animated film is a masterpiece of its time.
I don't see why people should look down on adults who comment on the subject of so-called 'children's movies'. Many people of all ages can enjoy the innocent pleasures of films with a family audience. Not everything needs to be violent, sexual or full of vulgarity. There is a time and a place for that too. Its really nice to be able to sit together as a family to watch the same thing and to enjoy it together. Leave politics out of movies, and let the art of cinema do its own thing!

Some straight woman say they don't want a prince but the market for unattractive poor men is bearish.
The opinions of adults matter because they are the ones paying for tickets and if they don't approve of Disney's cultural appropriation of a German ferry tail, ticket sales will not materialize.
Antiquesaving
One would have to be living in a bubble for the past 2 decades to say this.
This behaviour started with the others complaining about the kind of people being casted and not enough of their own people getting leading roles.
The movie tittle says it all, it is a German fairytale, is Disney saying in all of Hollywood there wasn't a single actor that better portrayed the characters based on the historical origins of the story?
Imagine how they would react if Disney used the Bondei of Tanzania folktale "Tale of an Old Woman." and cast someone like Meryl Streep to play the role.
Not only would it outrage many it would be a security nightmare

Cinema is by definition political. Pretty much like most art is. What you're asking is not to "leave politics out of movies", but "leave the politics I don't like" out of movies. Which is insane. The artists are making the art they want, in order to convey the ideas they feel like conveying. If you don't care for it, don't go see it. Very simple.
Negative Nancy
No, you've got me wrong on this. I go to the cinema to be entertained. Life, indeed is affected by and reflects politics, and that will be shown in media of all times. However, if I have paid to see a movie to relax, I don't want an agenda being shown so overtly, I want a bit of fun and escapism for a couple of hours, especially Disney films. Did those classic Disney movies in the pantheon have much overt politics? They certainly did not, and it was not needed or desired.

Yes, its what progressives do to shut down opinions opposed to theirs. Just like their childish penchant for mangling the names of their political opponents.
ohara
Good for you, Nancy.

That statement is Marxist nonsense.

Cant help it, it was a disastrous train wreck and that’s putting it lightly. We can’t comment on it, we have to pretend it was a good movie?? In order to appease the left? Sorry…
I'veSeenFootage
Then go see another movie. There are tons of them. Problem solved. You're welcome.
I'veSeenFootage
You don't know what "marxist" means, do you?
I'veSeenFootage
Why are you using the past tense to judge a movie that didn't come out yet?
bass4funk
Because I watched it already and it’s bad, very bad.
wallace
bass4funk
Of course you have, but the question is, why did you watch it is more important. I won't be watching it.
Jimizo
My gorgeous girlfriend watched it and said it was crap but she goes to a different school.
bass4funk
I think the way Disney is going, no one will watch their movies, thankfully they got off the alternative agenda that got them shunned in the first place, so we are starting to see some normalcy going back into the Magic Kingdom
itsonlyrocknroll
I will be taking my nephews and nieces to this live-action remake, "Snow White,"
After all, I am assuming they are all of an age to enjoy.
$200 million to make, Rachel Zegler could have been a tad more subtle,.
Frankly, I have opined on many subjects, upsetting everybody friends colleagues family at one time or another, still do.
“Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”
I guess some of will always be seen as the "wicked witch", seriously, Rachel Zegler is not one of us.

How is Disney going? From the recent ones Alien Romulus, Inside out 2, Deadpool & Wolverine or even Moana 2 seem to be quite successful and lots of people have watched them. And most are clearly on the side supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.
bass4funk
That’s what I was saying, they are awoken no more and that is a great thing for the company, Bob Iger realized the company can’t go the route it took the last 4 years, so the company has been seeing some success coming back, still have a way to go, but good times ahead
virusrex
How are movies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion "awoken no more"? if anything the success proves the opposite of your point.
Have you even seen any of these examples? because you have a completely wrong idea about the kind of movies they are.
bass4funk
Pushing an opposite ideology or making movies that no one wanted to see, hear or watch, that’s changing now for the better.
No, quite the opposite.
https://www.foxbusiness.com/media/disney-drops-two-dei-programs-latest-sec-filing-investors-pressure-company-do-more
Yes, even the ones that were horrible
I do not.
TokyoLiving
Pathetic garbage..
virusrex
The movies that "nobody wanted to see" actually were extremely successful and they promoted diversity, equity and inclusion. They proved the opposite of what you are claiming.
These very successful movies all promote diversity equity and inclusion, so yes, they prove the opposite of your point.
That would mean you understand that they are extremely "awoken" as you called them, and they were also extremely successful.
Of course you do, when you say they represent going in the opposite direction when they are clearly, explicitly supporing diversity, equity and inclusion as positive values that should be promoted.

And alienated the rest of the 98% of Americans
Disney learned from abysmal sales
Not when they alienated the majority of Americans, it doesn’t matter what you say or claim, Disney was struggling Iger realized he needed to change and not accommodate a small tiny segment of the population.
I don’t
itsonlyrocknroll
Why would any film studio with a reputation, Disney, ever allow a toxic identify political ideology into a wonderful classical children's fantasy masterpiece Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs?
Zeigler described the beloved original as "weird" because Snow White's love interest is "a guy who literally stalks her."
"she's not going to be saved by the prince, and she's not going to be dreaming about true love,"
"yes i am snow white no i am not bleaching my skin for the role"
$ 200,000,000, for Zegler to then flush such an investment round the U bend,.
I hope the film is given a second chance though.
virusrex
Not according to the success they had, thus proving your point is mistaken.
The examples I gave had very good sales, and they promote diversity, equity and inclusion. So your point was refuted.
The examples I gave did not, which is why they were so successful.
So it does not matter when you claim arbitrary numbers of people supposedly alienated.
Except it was not, as proved.
To stop having lots of successful movies? you are making no sense.
It was very easy to prove you tried (very unsuccesfully) to do it.
Your whole point depended on "awoken" movies being unpopular, yet these movies were both "awoken" and very popular and made lots of money. They prove the opposite of what you tried to use them.
bass4funk
Im talking about overall, 2-3 movies doesn’t mean the company is not in the red, blood red!
As were mine.
Disney dropped its "Reimagine Tomorrow" program from their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion section of its 2024 SEC 10-K report. The program was mentioned in the 2023 report, which defines the program as "the Company’s digital destination for amplifying underrepresented voices and features some of Disney’s DE&I commitments and actions."
Not claim, stock sales dropped
Iger is lying??????
Which they weren’t in the end, that’s why they’re not making them anymore, ask Carville, it’s what’s destroying his party.

Disney has been free falling for a long time and that needs to be corrected or they’ll continue to lose customers.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2023/08/30/its-no-surprise-disneys-stock-hit-a-nine-year-low-heres-why/
Now they’re slowly on a rebound.
virusrex
These movies are the period where you claimed Disney was doing terribly bad, the examples are clear in their success, so they prove this is the direction Disney can continue to be profitable.
What source says Disney is in the red? and specially that this comes because it makes hugely popular movies?
I mean, even their streaming service became profitable
https://fortune.com/2024/08/07/disney-streaming-profit-inflation-theme-park/
Just the same year when they releases these and other "awoken" movies.
Not because of very popular "awoken" movies, as you claimed, that was wrong.
Iger did not claim the movies I put as examples were unpopular as you did.
They were, even you said so at 3:57 when you accepted the company is seeing success thanks to these movies.
Something they corrected by releasing these very "awoken" movies.
You just proved the opposite of what you claimed.
itsonlyrocknroll
I will pay and watch Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,
I will not care less, I will separate the Zeigler effect.
I watched the original as a child with Mum. I even asked Mum when Dad was going to change from a frog,
Mum spent how long asking where I got the frog from.
A child imagination is sacrosanct,
DEI why?
I was, am enthralled by the simplicity of such storytelling.
bass4funk
They were overall
If I were wrong then Oger would t be changing business course
And still having flops this disaster and Mickey 17.,
Not at all
virusrex
The examples are clear on the opposite, successful, popular and profitable, the opposite of what you claimed.
How many movies have been developed in the opposite direction? is this one? you are the one making this claim, but fail to produce any evidence.
You accepted the examples are successful and brought back Disney to the black, this proves they are what is profitable, so you disproved yourself.
You know how this is clear? the moment you fail to produce any argument or evidence of the opposite.
bass4funk
Then why Iger would change, why change it back to what the majority of Americans want?
Stating the facts, nothing more
Facts, there you go
itsonlyrocknroll
At which point did Disney not stop to think to get the "Snow White Story" on message?
It is a child's wide eyes wonderland of bedtime stories.
I wonder how disney become so dysfunctional?
