It doesn’t exactly boost my expectations about this movie when I read they are just cobbling together random scraps of footage they happened to have of one character, all made for the other movies, to make up her entire performance. And that character is going to be one of the central ones in this movie.

I'm ok with it as long as it's done right. I'm glad they have actual footage to use instead of doing a CG character. Full CG actors still don't look quite right.

I just hope that Rose's role is as small as her character is on the poster...

Gunna be lame

Looks like a total shambles. At least the Mandalorian is fun and visually stunning.

Can't wait for this! If it's half as good as the stunning The Last Jedi, it's going to be a classic.

Yeah I enjoyed The Last Jedi for the most part also. Disney's done a decent job with this trilogy considering the disaster the prequels were to the point where something like Episode 1 is unwatchable.

Yeah I enjoyed The Last Jedi for the most part also.

It was dark and beautiful to look at. Luke's exile and rejection of what he saw as the vanity of the Jedi and his frustrations made sense. It took Yoda to put him back on track, which is in keeping with Empire - let's not forget he ran out on his training and let emotions take hold. As I've said before, my only problem was with the Casino stuff. Not that it was bad, or that Finn and Rose are poor characters (they're not). It just felt a bit of a distraction from the main story.

I can just about handle certain elements of Ep 1 - Darth Maul, Obi Wan, the Duel of the Fates and the pod race. I so much wanted the prequels to be good but that wasn't to be.

Star Wars was a phenomenon when it first appeared.  Decades later and rehash after rehash it is nothing special any more.  This one sounds like a purely money making vehicle.

They killed the franchise, no reason at all to watch anymore .

I actually enjoy it, just Jar Jar should have had less screen time. But Darth Maul fight with that legendary music worth the watch a million time and that sound design and cinematography during the pod race awesome, really felt like a Star Wars movie.

The plot and character development in the new trilogy is asinine. Rey never struggles, we don't know anything about her after 2 full films, she has no purpose, this love between her and Leia is nonsensical, they barely know each other. Only interesting character is Kylo but they will probably screw his spoiler alert most likely death mid-redemption from the dark side while Rey will single-handedly defeat Darth Sidious... It's hard to care about those new characters they introduced, and among all story plots they could shave picked from the books or extended universe they decided to remake the original trilogy from a millennial prospective. Only good stuff in Last Jedi was the final attack scene with the red/white contrast but again spoiled by Rose/Finn "love story". Not looking forward to it at all.

I'm so torn by this post. I agree with pretty much everything you say in paragraph 2, but can't get past the defence of Episode 1 in paragraph 1.

I will say that I am not all that hyped about this movie either but as Fan I will pay the money and go see it with son. I enjoy reading the books. Especially Timothy Zahn.

Here are few I recommend for the Star Wars fans.

Heir to the Empire. The best book I ever read from the Saga.

I am halfway through Thawn for the second time and it is by far the second best work Timothy Zahan has ever written. I have read so many Star Wars Books that seeing the characters on the movie screen. I can not connect to how they look in my mind. Shadow of the Empire, Splinter of the minds eye, Darth Plagueis. All really good books.

Reading the books is like this.

Rouge 1 is an authentic Star Wars movie and the best one they ever made. Many argue this point with me.

Try a read and see how it goes. But I will go see the film in full Star Wars garb cause I am huge fan. I even have two light sabers and some movie props.

Haha I hear you well I did not say it was a great film but those two scenes make it worth for me. Also Liam Neeson perf was great. Midichlorian yeah meh. But if we play close attention they are not the force just an indicator. Ok ok I’m nit-picking. Let’s say it’s one of the worst but it makes more sense with better characters than 7/8 and soon 9

If you still like Episode 1 then you haven't seen the Plinket review by RedLetterMedia
