'Napoleon' conquers French box office, if not critics

Definitely want to see this! Phoenix gives 110% in every role I have ever seen him in.

I did want to see it, but it sounds dreary and seems to ignore all the things that made him interesting to focus on his love life. The story of how this obscure boy from Corsica rose to rule France and charm his followers, only to succumb to hubris, is a fascinating one

Watching the trailer is already difficult to stand and more than sufficient. What purpose does that movie attempt have, besides making some bucks? Look, he neither acts, speaks nor even looks like Napoleon.

Boo! Quit sucking on lemons and see the movie! At the very least it provokes interest in history.

Purpose? Well yes one is to make money and the other is to try to entertain. So you're an expert on Napoleon? Can you tell what he really sounded like? Like...did you talk to him? Going into a film adaptation expecting a history documentary never works. There's always going to be artistic license and different interpretations. Good or bad, at least we're getting something other than comic book films, sequels. or remakes.

I found it very strange. Lots of vulgarity but it is possible that this an accurate description of this time period. It was interesting to see the square anti-cavalry technique in action, though.
