Perfect storm: irresponsible armorer meets fool of an actor.

Baldwin must take responsibility for his own carelessness.

The trial and verdict have the strange taste of "low-hanging fruit". The motive is still murky. I doubt if Baldwin will be willing or able to shed any light on this shooting death.

Seems like a low prison sentence is coming. Maybe Hutchins' family can get some justice in civil court.

It’s the right decision, but based on what’s been learned about her, whoever hire her is also guilty of negligence.

That's a non-sequitur. There are many situations in which the person who hired were would not be negligent.

Pretty obvious verdict.

Though it may change now (how remains to be unseen), no actor on set checked their firearm themselves to see if there were only blank rounds in it. Did Keanu Reaves check the ammunition in every gun given to him on the set of John Wick? Same goes for any other actor who needed to use a firearm on set.

Regardless if it's fairly easy to identify the differences in ammunition (crimp, size, colored wad), actors would need training to be able to properly identify and differentiate. They'd also have to spend the time to check every round in every firearm themselves.

This is why you hire professional armorers. Clearly the armorer on this set was woefully inadequate as she brought live ammunition from home to the set where it got mixed up with blank rounds. Were the movie producers negligent in hiring her? That remains to be seen and will likely be a key point in determining if the producers are liable.

And what of the person that actually pulled the trigger (at a NON-Actor, in the movie) ?

This person is guilty of nothing more than professional negligence, that’s IT.

SHE DIDN’T point a firearm at someone and pull the trigger.

Not keeping track of firearms and allowing live rounds on a movie set crosses the line into criminal negligence. You don't have to pull the trigger directly to commit a crime.

Her job was to - safely - supply guns to the set and ensure that they did not have live rounds in them. The job isn't rocket science.

This is NOT an actors job.

So Alec Baldwin is to stand trial charged with "involuntary manslaughter"... doesn't that mean it was an accident? And to be honest, prop guns aren't real, so why would he assume it was real AND loaded? The question that I've not seen a good answer for is WHY there was a real loaded gun on set in the first place?

The main and only question here is who brought a live round to the set? Not who was waiving a gun or loading or anything else! They are just looking for a scapegoat! Not for who is responsible for bringing a live round to the set! It could have been done accidentally or on purpose.

I think this to should be a movie!!!

cocaine and guns dont mix. and how does a 26 year old woman become proficient enough in firearms to be trusted with such a position? seems like a poor choice, one of many, maybe she was hired for different reasons? lots of guilty parties present, she should not be the only scapegoat ! Ultimately, he who pulled the trigger must accept the final responsibility for this tragedy.

cocaine and guns dont mix.

I bet they mix great - I'm sure people love shooting guns on cocaine.

It's cocaine, guns, and everyone in the room staying alive, that don't mix.
