SNL has not been funny for decades. Hang it up, people.

The one thing fascists can't abide is people being free to point out their rank incompetence.

13 ( +20 / -7 )

The cast members went on to effusively declare their reverence for, and obedience to, the former and future president, introducing a new character, “Hot, Jacked Trump.”

The big money is in pumping up, that is the new economy he tapped into to win.

That is 1 reason why there are so many alt right grifters profiting from corporate and foreign sources.

Just have to be able to string some interesting words together.

Trump has been winning all along.....The Dems were played mightily.

-6 ( +12 / -18 )

Let’s be real: if Saturday Night Live ran a "you laugh, you lose" competition, we'd all win.

SNL is nothing more than a tired, Uber Liberal left-wing propaganda machine. The only thing worse than their jokes is the audience pretending they’re hilarious. Watching SNL now is like watching a comedy funeral - as if they buried humor under a pile of woke talking points.

The skits have all the comedic timing of a Tokyo Immigration line, and the jokes? They’re about as sharp as a kiddie spoon. The cast seems more interested in virtue-signaling than actually being funny.

It’s no wonder people have completely tuned out.

-7 ( +8 / -15 )

The one thing fascists

yeah that totally worked in the election. Are the fascists in the room with you right now?

do we need to vote this week too so we can show you how wrong you all were, again?

Talked about played out. Trump won okay; the 'left, lib, woke, communists' stuff is and always has been boring.

Burr, hosting after standup Dave Chappelle hosted the last two post-presidential election episodes

Both are appreciated by many on the right and left.

6 ( +9 / -3 )

i didn’t think it was possible to make Bill Burr unfunny but SNL can do that to anyone.

he’s got bills to pay and a Trump hating wife so I’m not mad at him, get that bag.

-8 ( +6 / -14 )

"...from the liberal-leaning show." The "liberal leaning" show? That's like saying the surface of the sun is leaning warm.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

the 'left, lib, woke, communists' stuff is and always has been boring.

Wow, good upon you for finally admitting that! Now all we need is for you to finally have some clarity around your (collective) failed theory of promised equity but inevitable delivery of oppression, poverty, and the loss of individual freedom... as history has repeatedly shown.

Not sure what this is supposed to mean, but if the big money and alt right were so much on the Trump side, as soo many have been claiming here and on legacy Media, then why did Harris have more than double the number if billionaires backing here and giving her campaign more than twice the amount of money the Trump backing billionaires gave him?

NBC (SNL network) ABC, CBS MSNBC, etc....all openly backed Harris, it was a non stop anti Trump news and jokes and he still won.

But SNL/NBC and all the rest cannot even grasp the simple fact that people were not listening to then as they treated their audience like they were so stupid they needed to be told who to vote for and they insulted anyone that even dated point out problems with Biden, Harris or the Democrat party.

SNL doesn't look like it got the message, other like CNN, MSNBC are even bringing on "experts" that are telling people to not invit family to Thanksgiving and Christmas if they didn't vote Harris and have "no respect for their feelings " by doing so. This included "husbands" that didn't vote they way their Harris supporting wife did, etc...

This is how deeply disturbed these people are in their heads.

The only bad thing about a Trump win is that we won't get to see much of Maya Rudolph's impressions on SNL.

These guys are bending their knee like anything for Trump now, but Trump himself has appeared on SNL previously so he would be cool with them.

The one guy who is going to get what he asked for is Jimmy Kimmel. He should pack his bags and flee in the next couple of months.

I have had Libs tell me it is funnier than ever particularly in the Alec Baldwin pre-murder days.

True! Like raising 1 billion USD then ending up 20 million in debt...WHILE losing the election in a landslide!

The American public chose wisely.

-7 ( +6 / -13 )

“I know a lot of ugly women — feminists, I mean — don’t want to hear this message.”

Ukeru!

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

I can't find the exact quote, but it was Frank Zappa who said that for some people, the worst thing you can do to them is laugh at them and refuse to take them seriously, as it gives them nothing to push against.

The reactions to this will be interesting, as Trump won the election, so you'd think his supporters wouldn't mind a few jokes being made at his expense. If they still get angry, then you have to wonder if their support of Trump was based on the fact that they liked him, or merely based on their hatred of "the libs".

3 ( +5 / -2 )

All these people are so weird.

Unfortunately I only have CNN and BBC at home, and there isn't a day I turn on CNN and they're not having someone trashing the left. Did they just changed sides? Or the skies are clearing over there after dumping Lemon and Fredo. Japan Today itself barely reports anything about Trump these days as well.

-9 ( +3 / -12 )

@Tokyo Guy I think for many, it was neither. A vote for Trump doesn't mean you like him. It means that people looked at their grocery receipts and remember paying much less before Biden/Harris took over. Perhaps some actually Googled historical inflation rates and noticed how Biden simply spewed lies about it. People actually listened to the question "Are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?" and the answer was a resounding NO. Libs can't see how Latino numbers for Trump increased, with his attitude toward immigration... and ignored the fact that for many, those grocery bills hurt them even more than the middle class.

If you vote based on feelings or who you "like", I'm sorry, but you're doing it wrong.

0 ( +4 / -4 )

you'd think his supporters wouldn't mind a few jokes being made at his expense

Trump, himself, has been known to laugh at jokes made at his own expense...during the last time he was on SNL for example

I am still waiting to hear a joke. Seems a struggle for SNL.

Because COVID.

Because COVID stimulus checks and enhanced unemployment subsidies.

Lot of false memories out there.

Trump's mass deportations, tariffs and huge tax cuts for corporations and the 1% are not going to help.

Actual voters disagreed. In a landslide,

It was kind of an ok opening.

It would be fun to see a skit where Kamala says with a straight face even now that Joe Biden showed no sign of cognitive disability during the last 4 years.

Look at the interviews with people at MAGA rallies and marvel at the level of discernment and judgement there, like an evangelical revival meeting.

Now it has metastasized.

Maybe it is the fluoride in the water?

See, that's a joke.

when you look at the numbers, trump didn't win, the democrats lost.

the popular vote for trump hardly changed from 2020 but the democrat votes were markedly down. They just couldn't be bothered? didn't like Harris? they also didn't like trump.

trumps popularity has hardly improved but the democrats are on the nose for a lot of people.

4 years wasted with hardly anything to show for it is why they lost.

SNL hasn't been funny in ages

Because fascism has never ever started with an election and a “mandate”. Ever!

Actually it never really did.

Any one that knows history even a bit knows that.

Mussolini did not win the election he marched on Rome and was given power.

Hitler did not win the election, he was given power thinking they could control him.

These patterns were repeated in all the countries that were fascist at the time, either they took power by military force (coup d'état) or were given power by the then ruling authorities/monarchs.

Not one fascist regime took power in any legitimate election.

True. SNL has been trash for decades. It's just not funny anymore.

In those four years, their strategy was to double-down and continue to move further left focusing on things like LGBT issues and forced diversity instead of addressing areas such as immigration and the economy. They lost a lot of rational-minded, centrist/moderate voters from both Democrats and Republicans who no longer connect with the extreme left or right. Add in Biden withdrawing too late and that Kamala is a woman (not entirely for misogynistic reasons) and that sealed the deal.

The silver lining of a trump presidency is all the amazing comedy that is created from that clown.
