It was extremely well-made. I found the ending a bit anti-climactic, though.
Hard to believe all of those sets and villages were built specifically for it in Canada, as opposed to using existing studio lots and locations in Japan.

Shogun was already done in the 1980s.

There was a few reasons why they filmed in Canada. One the covid restrictions in Japan made it very difficult to film there. And the crews and filming location were top notch in Vancouver. If you saw Shogun they made the right decision to film it there.
