to be honest a movie about a fish man doing it with a mute getting best picture, not to mention the message of "inclusive" (only if you are female) is probably why nobody cares about hollywood anymore and why the oscar ratings tanked

I hate monster movies. Will not see this flick.

I have seen both Shape of Water and 3 Billboards and found the latter far superior. I’m amazed Shape won best picture considering its nudity and violence and overacting by the main bad guy. That being said, I know it’s de riguer to hate on the Oscars but I’ve enjoyed them for 50 years and hope they last through the rest of my lifetime. Yay, Hollywood!

No such message exists.
Yeah, nobody cares about Hollywood anymore. That's why Black Panther opened to 202 thousand dollars, right? Wait, I'm sorry, I forgot a few zeroes. Never mind.
The Academy Awards are indeed increasingly irrelevant to a younger public, but if you think the ratings for a single award show somehow can be used to represent the public at large's opinion of Hollywood movies in general or a movie that won an award in particular, I'm going to have to recommend an elementary logical deduction course for you.

The Shape of Water is a grotesque film with very little in the way of redeeming qualities. The film contains gratuitous scenes of nudity and sexuality as well as violence. These scenes serve only to titillate the audience with prurience.
The concept and theme are both ridiculous and inane and the outcome is equally silly and pointless. The film was not deserving of any awards at all. We can only look forward to the latest by Mel Gibson with his soon to be released Life of Christ film following up on his masterpiece "The Passion Of The Christ" from 2004.

I thought The Shape of Water was awful, as was Three Billboards. Both style over substance.

I, too, didn't care much for The Shape of Water but my reasons for not liking it are, I think, a great deal more valid than yours. And, for the record, I don't think 'The Passion Of The Christ' was a masterpiece. It was, in its own way, just as offensive as you feel this movie was...
