I can't believe they're really doing this. It's too little, too late for a sequel. It ain't gonna be worth a hoot. A waste of time and money.

The should call it, "Getting 'Goosed' out of Your Money".

You'll be surprised.

Since it's a sequel, and not a reboot or remake, I'm going to reserve judgement until it comes out. Maybe they'll do a decent job. If it were a reboot, of which there are FAR too many these days, I wouldn't bother at all.

I'll only go and see it if they can guarantee Iceman Val Kilmer will do a loud teeth crunch at Maverick in the movie.

I don't mind the sequels , remakes and reboots. But some of them take an awful time to reach the big screen.
Far cry from the days when you could have a sequel mere months after the original. I think Son of Kong managed to get released the same year (1933) as King Kong!
I can't imagine going to see the TG sequel. I was reluctantly dragged to see the first film when it came out and it was very much "meh" to the gung-ho impossibly macho antics onscreen. I did get to see "Take My Breath Away" Berlin in concert a few months later, so the TG phenomena isn't all bad...
I'd like to see Tom get back to proper acting again, we all know he can do it.

Oh my!

Cruise has aged better than anyone else in this movie.

At least the special effects will be even more impressive and the latest fighter jets will no doubt be very cool to watch in dogfights.

Loved Top Gun as a kid but more looking forward to A Quiet Place 2.

I'll wait until we see, well, anything from the movie before I decide if it's going to suck or not. I don't get why some folks are like 'The studio just announced yesterday that they're making a (fill in the blank) sequel?? It's gonna be terrible!'
If nothing else, there will be some cool dogfights. Any bets on if Cruise will have learned how to fly a fighter jet himself so he can do all the scenes without a stunt double? ;-)

Tom probably has more resources than many other actors so it might be OK. But if I see a hint of a motorcycle or car chase, I'll pass.
Personally, I'd rather see a sequel of Tropic Thunder or full length spin-off featuring Les Grossman.

There wasn't any real dogfights in the first movie. Chases yes.
Yes, great soundtrack - Harold Faltemeyer, Berlin, Cheap Trick, Kenny Loggins at his BEST! At the time I wasn't too gung-ho either beings I was in the Navy myself and America was at war with Libya (air + sea attacks). This was the first time the term 'war on terror' was used and it was a pretty heady time for myself and my cohorts. Not a glory train. And yes some people joined the Navy because of this flick. In order to be a pilot you generally need to be a junior officer and that takes a college degree. Have a happy 4,4 or 6 years first. Get cracking!
The original film wasn't bad but it was too predictable and some plot twists were just not realistic at all. That's fantasy for sale - that's entertainment!

'Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns'... that's a dogfight.

It was nothing compared to a STAR WARS movie. Those flicks have some real butt-kicking action!

@starpunk
They're all very different movies, but all great.
